2007-2008: Design & manufacture specialty heavy haul freight sleds for traverse & support operations in Antarctica for National Science Foundation/Raytheon Polar Services Company

2006-2007: Raytheon Contract Employee – ITASE (International Trans Antarctic Science Expedition) Traverse Supervisor. Recovered buried/mothballed mobile camp & equipment at Taylor Dome, Antarctica. Repaired/modified/upgraded camp & equipment, moved two sled trains of equipment & team of scientists overland from Taylor Dome to the head of Byrd Glacier while conducting experiments including crevasse detection radar, land mapping using deep penetration radar through 1.5 mile deep ice sheet, 25 & 100 meter ice coring for 100 & 1,000 year climate record and many other scientific experiments. Completed daily and end of season reports and recommendations for future traverse modifications, modification/replacement of equipment and procedures to improve future operations

1. Developed x-ray inspection method for Piper lift struts to comply with an
FAA AD as an alternate method to replacing the struts. Inspection done in place without removing the struts
2. Developed an x-ray inspection method to inspect Beech 18 wing spars which reduced the previously approved inspection cost be more than 30%
3. Developed an ultrasonic inspection method to inspect Lake Amphibian aircraft wing attach fittings in place as an alternate to an FAA AD requiring the wings to be removed for inspection
4. Set up and operated a State of Alaska & Veterans Administration Approved welding and non-destructive testing training program
5. Provided commercial non-destructive testing & inspection/QA/QC services to customers including Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, British Petroleum, ARCO, Alaska Division of Harbors, US Government, Boeing Commercial Division (missile silos in Montana & Idaho) to name a few
