My past experience as a Driller with Precision Drilling, and my current position as a Drilling Engineer with ConocoPhillips, qualifies me as an excellent candidate for the current posting of Drilling Supervisor with your company. The opportunity to further my knowledge in the oil and gas industry presents an exciting challenge that I look forward to pursuing. Since 1999 I have been employed with Precision Drilling, and I have had the opportunity to work on various drilling rigs throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Through this work experience, I learned a great deal about the drilling process and its many aspects and applications. Additionally, I developed a passion to excel in the drilling industry through both experience and knowledge. This lead to an Engineering Degree with Distinction and the position of a Drilling Engineer, where I was managing three drilling rigs within a couple of weeks.
My ability to strive is evident in two Special Recognition Awards. The first concerns a guide for new engineers to aid in generating drilling programs. The second is for an EXCEL program, designed to provide drilling supervisors with the pertinent information and technical data required to drill a well safer and more efficiently using a more technical approach. These achievements, along with a guide, "Required Course of Action for Surface Casing Cementing Problems" for Drilling Supervisors, Superintendents and Engineers that is now being utilized by the ERCB (The Energy Resources Conservation Board), are noteworthy contributions in a growing industry that is continually striving for increased safety and productivity.

- Designed safe and economic casing strings
- Designed wellbore hydraulics and BHA's to maximize bit life and drilling rate.

- Work with service contractors to design safe and economic cement, mud and directional programs addressing technical issues expected in well
- Monitor the daily progress of well operations and current daily costs, comparing actual costs with cost estimates and recommending changes or improvements to rig work techniques, which could lead to optimisation of expenditure and or safer procedures
- Monitor and evaluate well conditions with the Drilling Superintendent, as well as the HSE system
- Ensure all routine drilling and cost reports are accurate, complete and timely
- Developed a guide for new engineers 'How to Drill a Well", showing the proper steps involved in programming a well, as well as the available tools used in the design process and instructions on how to use them. ConocoPhillips Canada now uses this document as a primary training tool for new Drilling Engineers
- Developed a guide, "Required Course of Action for Surface Casing Cementing Problems", for Drilling Supervisors, Superintendents and Engineers to assist in identifying the problem and the proper remedial steps required. The ERCB (The Energy Resources Conservation Board) is now using this document to direct operators encountering surface casing cement problems.
- Created an EXCEL program for Drilling Supervisors that, when input sheet is filled out, calculates different Well Control Kill Sheets and Graphs, Surge and Swab Pressures, ECD's, Hydraulics, Slug Calculations, Circulating Times, Volumes, Displacements and Stripping Calculations to help drill wells safer and more efficiently using a more technical approach
