PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Research Assistant
Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, The University of Akron, Akron, OH 2006 – present
* Planned and constructed high temperature gas phase reactor with quadrupole mass spectrometer. Analysis and modeling hydrocarbon gas phase reaction with Chemkin and FLUENT as technical support for Aircraft Braking Systems Corporation.
* Study the Zeolite catalyst in pressure swing adsorption(PSA) and reverse selective PEO membrane for H2/CO2 separation process.
Process Engineer
Shenhua Energy Co. Ltd., Beijing, P.R.China 2002 – 2006
* Participate with Licensor and PMC in selection of technology (UOP/Hydro, LURGI and DMTO) for China's first coal based MTO project at Baotou City of Inner Mongolia. The project includes a 1.8 MMTPA methanol unit, a 0.6 MMTPA MTO unit, a 0.3 MMTPA PE unit and a 0.3 MMTPA PP unit.
* Experiences with both Shell Coal Gasification Process(SCGP) and GE Gasification Process(former Texaco)
* Responsible for all aspects of chemical and petroleum process design and project implementation for various processes, including:
-Developing project scopes and project costs estimates.
-Computer simulation and hand calculation of heat and material balances, distillation and absorbing tower operations, and flash calculations.
-Performing supporting process calculations and preparing specifications for all required process equipment items, including vessels and internals, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, instruments, control valves and relief valves.
-Participate in the preparation, review and comments to technical specifications of PFDs, P&IDs and equipment specification materials and instrumentation.
-Reviewing all aspects of design and construction for consistency and safety, including leading HAZOP and pre-startup (PSSR) reviews.
-Developing procedures and design standards as required to reflect changes in design policy, experience with previous designs, regulatory changes, customer design standards and the requirements of specific projects.
-Coordinating with equipment and material vendors and construction contractors to insure timely delivery of equipment and effective project implementation.
Field Engineer
SINOPEC Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Ltd., Beijing, P.R.China 2000-2002
* Hands on experiences of Process control monitoring 8.5 MMTPA Crude Vacuum Distillation Unit and 1.3 MMPTA Hydrocraker Unit to meet required throughput & specifications of the product in most safe & economical manner.
* Responsibility like maintaining plant load, monitoring flow rate to the reactor. Plant control and monitoring systems like display for process and auxiliary variables, alarm management, regulatory control and monitoring, sequential control functions, data acquisition, recording, reporting and trending functions. Engaged in all the field and control room activities for the pre commissioning, commissioning and start up activities of continuous Distillation by pretreatment, Predistillation and main distillation unit.
