GRADUATE PROJECT WORK
* Effects of column stiffness on beams and foundations
(Software used: STAAD)
An optimum design of structure was carried out using different combination of columns with beams and footing. The optimization criteria was to make span and support moments nearly same by redistribution of moments.
* HEC-RAS & HEC-HMS
The project work consisted to run HEC-1 analysis for Red River watershed using the given input file, finding the peak discharge location, comparing 6-hr and 24-hr discharge, plotting and comparing hydrographs and commenting on calibration methods and their improvement. Moreover to understand Modified Plus routing approaches to route the combined hydrographs.
* Project Management
Project on Primavera 4.1 and MS Project consisted of leaning the basic approach of both the software towards project management, finding critical path, scheduling, adding resources, costing and project analysis.
UNDER GRADUATE PROJECT WORK and SEMINARS
* Paper presented on 'Foundation design of Expansive soils'
Discussed the tests for identification of expansive soils, measurement and factors affecting swelling pressure, controlling swelling and field conditions that favors swelling and its effect on Building foundations. Also discussed the foundation design on expansive soil and its stabilization. Design of Under-reamed piles.
* Paper presentation on 'Advance Earthquake resistance techniques'
The basic approach underlying was not to strengthen the building but to reduce the earthquake generated forces. Main techniques that are discussed were base isolation, energy dissipater, and eccentric bracing.
