Geomatics entity in Shell encompasses onshore and offshore field survey operations activities, GIS Deployment within E&P surface and subsurface as well as to-scale mapping support and data management. Apart from the main technical characteristics above, I am well-exposed to management skill as well as contracts, related papers and procurements aspect. With this environment of working, I have the versatility to perform all level of Geomatics Business.

Current Position: GEOMATICS Advisor
Shell Deepwater Project Office, West Malaysia

Currently, I am attached with Shell Deepwater Engineering Office as Geomatics Advisor. The key roles are: -

* Involved in high-level engineering-related project management and planning with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) – Malaysian National Petroleum.

* Working closely with PETRONAS under strict Petroleum Sharing Contract (PSC) under Malaysian regulations to lead, engage, plan and manage offshore survey acquisition activities with regards to offshore topographical hazards identification, pipeline route analysis, geotechnical survey and environmental impact assessment survey.

* Deepwater Project's Geomatics Representative in high-level communications on related matters with Government Agencies such as PETRONAS, Malaysian Telecom, Royal Malaysian Navy, Malaysian National Marine Parks Department on Survey and Mapping Department.

* Quality Assurance for over all aspects of Geomatics Survey from survey planning, Health Safety & Environment (HSE), field data acquisition, data processing and final technical geohazards reports.

* Act as Geomatics liaison between the Company and project's EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contractor with regards to tender documents review and evaluation for technical clarifications. Prepare Scope of Works, specify technical requirements, deliverables and HSE.

* Provide expert advise to project team-members and contractors, on coordinate reference systems and coordinates integrity matters.

* Execute technical GIS and mapping in support of surface-engineering disciplines. This includes GIS data management and synchronization between project data and Global GIS datasets.

Followings are my area of expertise: -

(i) E&P GIS GEOINFORMATION MAPPING

* As Information and Records Management Focal Point, engaged, managed and coordinated with Information Management Team Lead to comply with regional National Authority's Production Sharing Contractors' (PSC) Data Repository requirements. Lead a team to map, harmonise and manage data and information management processes. Initiated relevant business improvements and inculcated new data management culture.

* As a GIS and Geoinformation Analyst, interfaced with project stakeholders, liaised with geoinformation data provider, managed GIS project data according to GIS Project Life-cycle and ensure critical metadata information is tagged along with the data. Verified and analysed the accuracy and completeness before uploading to the Corporate database at the end of every project cycle.

* Managed, supervised and interfaced with IT Infrastructure team for GIS data migration from local server to a global GIS architecture infrastructure.

* Interfaced, managed, analysed and trouble-shoot critical coordinates reference systems failure in subsurface as well as drilling modeling softwares and computing systems. Provide analysis expertise to various regional locations.

* Managed, audited and rolled-out Coordinates Reference System key geodetic parameters within the Company's Geodetic Calculation software in ensuring Zero Coordinates Integrity to the business.

* Interfaced and hands-on deployment of GIS and Geoinforamation capability towards a Search and Rescue mission by the Emergency Control Centre. Fully-utilise GIS Corporate datasets in-tandem with Vessel Tracking capabilities.

* Collectively contribute ideas to improve internal records and data management for Geomatics; Operational experience in change management environment for implementing Livelink within the team.

* Execute technical GIS and mapping in support of multi-engineering disciplines.

(ii) E&P Survey Operations and Management

* As a project surveyor, lead, engage, plan and manage survey acquisition activities with regards to offshore topographical hazards identification and pipeline route analysis.

* Provide expert advise on coordinate reference systems and coordinates integrity matters.

* Executed High-Precision GPS for Offshore Platform Subsidence Survey as an input to analyse reservoir compaction analysis.

* QA the process of jacket leg and platform installation as well as subsea system equipment and subsea pipelines and risers.

* Coordinates the execution of Geotechnical Survey and Environmental Impact Assessment Survey for Project team.

* Interfaced with various project end-users such as drilling and construction department in managing and planning survey resources and activities to ensure business continuity within budget.

* As Company Representative onboard the various construction barges and drilling rigs, ensure vendors conformance to job specifications as well as HSSE requirements.

* Quality Assurance of the deliverables for the various hydrography survey missions onboard the various survey vessels.

* Interfaced with Masters and Engineers, planned and executed the production of anchor mooring pattern of CAT-1 barges, work-barges as well as geotechnical research vessels.

Non-E&P Experience with Malaysian Local Construction & GIS Companies 1998-2000

* Lead, managed and interfaced with other Engineers on matters pertaining to the construction of residential 248 double-storey terrace development for Guthrie Land and Development Sdn. Bhd; High-rise 30-storeys luxury condominium including a separate 3-storeys car park for Far East Land and Housing Development Ltd, Singapore.

* Managed and interfaced work on technical specifications and work progress for the Mineral and Science Department in preparing nation's first Digital Geological Map; Managed data acquisition and location verification of the trans-Sarawak fibre-optic cable to better manage emergency response using GIS; Supervised and managed field data acquisition and location verification of Klang Valley road network for Alam Flora to better manage their collection of household waste using GIS.
