SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
An instrumentation and controls engineer with over twenty year's oil and gas experience. David has worked in both the North Sea and Australasia as a discipline manager on many major design projects. He has also worked onsite during the construction, commissioning and maintenance phases of offshore projects.
He has successfully applied INTOOLs and Database Aided Design (DAD) on detail design projects to develop datasheets, terminations, hazardous area registers, junction box registers, cable schedules, MTOs, indexes, and I/O schedules. Data has been successfully exported to Client Engineering Warehouses and SAP applications.

KBR (MAY 2006– JULY 2009)
LEAD INSTRUMENT AND CONTROLS ENGINEER (BAKU, AZERBAIJAN)
Lead Engineering for the BP/AIOC Sangachal terminal based in Baku, Azerbaijan. Responsible for the Greenfield design of medium sized projects, the largest being a Produced Water plant with 2400 I/O. Provided support for 1st oil on the Phase 3 oil project, and for 1st gas on the Shah Deniz gas plant. Typical start-up problems resolved included compressor certification for use in a Hazardous Area. Preparation of Brownfield modification packs for implementation into the Operational Plant, including scopes requiring Shutdowns. Manage a team of 25 including Expats, Locals, and TCN's with a focus on training and developing the skills of the local staff.

CLOUGH AMEC JV (CAJV) (MARCH 2005 – MAY 2006)
SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER
Project Engineering on the Woodside Oil Assets responsible for the ongoing support for the Enfield project during the construction phase in Korea, provided Project Engineer to co-ordinate CAJV multidiscipline work. Project Engineer on a screening study to move the Cossack Pioneer FPSO topsides to a replacement 5 year old hull. Prepared the ISC Project Management Plan and assisted with the Transition Plan from the Engineering Services Contract to the Integrated Services Contract.
FLUOR (JULY 2003 – MARCH 2005)
LEAD DESIGN ENGINEER (FEED, DETAIL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT)
Lead Engineer, Perth based for the Woodside Enfield FPSO Project. Responsible for the discipline Supervision, documentation checking, and package engineer for field instruments/field telecommunications equipment. Flour was responsible for the interfaces between the Fluor topside scope, SBM, SHI, and FMC. The discipline utilised the Manila office for some INTOOLS design and CAD work.
WORLEY LIMITED (MARCH 1996 – JUNE 2003)
SITE CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER
Based in China and seconded into the Conoco Phillips site team for 12 months. David was responsible for construction contractor supervision and commissioning support. The project was phase 1 of Bohai Bay, and was the refurbishment of an FPSO vessel, included process equipment replacement and marine system refurbishment.
INSTRUMENT DISCIPLINE SUPERVISOR
Managed the Instrument Design Team for the Bayu-Undan Project consisting of 32 designers and engineers. Design teams for each of the 3 facilities were established with Lead Engineers.
Responsible for recruitment, planning input, CTR development, discipline audits, checking 'Key' deliverable's such as electrical tripping philosophy, SILs review, DCS/PSSS Function Specifications, installation specifications and package specifications. Design was developed for modular fabrication.
SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER
Based in Canberra, undertook the design development of the AGL Midwest Pipeline, including; P&ID development, instrument design, electrical design, telecommunications and SCADA.
Undertook the supervision of the pipeline fabricator on site and performed the pipeline commissioning with the AGL commissioning team.
SENIOR PROJECT/LEAD ENGINEER
Instrument/Electrical Study Manager for Woodside's North West Shelf future developments. Undertook studies for the debottlenecking of Goodwyn and North Rankin Platforms.
Prepared Greenfield screening and feasibility studies for the Echo Yodel, Goodwyn South, Angel and Perseus projects.
FEED and screening for the 2nd trunk and Perseus flowlines.

LEAD INSTRUMENT ENGINEER
Bayu-Undan feasibility study included estimating, preparing philosophies and studies for gas metering, FSO offload liquid metering control system, safety systems, well testing, subsea multiphase metering. Input to the project to screen the 75 field options down to 2 for FEED.
AMEC ENGINEERING LTD (JULY 1993 – JANUARY 1996)
LEAD INSTRUMENT ENGINEER
Detail design of the Shell Brent Charlie LTFD project, with a design team of 42 designers and engineers.
Specifications for a new ESD, DCS, F&G and Telecommunications systems to interface with the existing platform equipment and also required to interface with the new modules.
Prepared Instrumentation design for the many platform upgrades including, replacement firepumps, and halon replacement. Construction packs were prepared for the removal of existing modules to make space for the new modules.
Design included for a new module with follow on site liaison.
Lead Electrical Engineer for last 20% of project.
BROWN & ROOT MARINE (SEPTEMBER 1992 – JULY 1993)
LEAD INSTRUMENT ENGINEER
Multi-client service contracts. Elf and Texaco.
Undertook study work, prepared design workpacks, and undertook site surveys.
Front end design, included preparing specifications and engineering for ESD, SCADA F&G and metering.
Supervision of design team, liaison with project management team.
JOHN BROWN ENGINEERING (MARCH 1992 – SEPTEMBER 1992)
PROJECT AND LEAD ENGINEER
Replaced field instrumentation with the latest Elf Enterprise standards on pipework and new vessels for the Flotta terminal. Extensive site survey work to effect upgrades.
Completed the design for the Texaco Tartan ESD upgrade.
BROWN & ROOT VICKERS (NOVEMBER 1988 – FEBRUARY 1992)
LEAD INSTRUMENT ENGINEER
Design of all aspects of the BP Forties gas lift instrumentation including new control and ESD panels, field instrumentation and construction workpacks.
Initially employed as a Senior Engineer to specify ESD and system requirements. Department consisted of 10 engineers, 12 designers and 10 CAD operators.
Project Engineer on the Produced water reinjection for BP Forties.

TOTAL OIL MARINE (APRIL 1985 – OCTOBER 1988)
SENIOR ENGINEER (OPERATIONS)
Operations support on instrument engineering matters, budget preparation and monitoring.
Set up maintenance procedures and fortnightly visits to the platform for offshore liaison.
Commissioned PLC based ESD and Blowdown system, and the Living Quarters HVAC upgrades. (MCPO1).
Design engineering and preparation of construction workpacks for platform modifications.
Prepared construction workpacks for Alwyn follow-on and wellhead hook-ups. (Alwyn).

BP PETROLEUM DEVELOPMENT UK LTD (JANUARY 1979 – APRIL 1985)
CONTROL ENGINEER (OPERATIONS)
Managed the Operations Section, consisting of two engineers and eight technicians, to undertake preventative and breakdown maintenance on the instrumentation, telemetry and telecommunications equipment within the West Sole field.
Designed, installed and commissioned new equipment to interface with the main project and also new wells on the satellite platform.

ENGINEERING GRADUATE TRAINEE
Engineering Graduate Trainee included one and a half years offshore on Forties Delta. Night shift supervision to assist the Maintenance Supervisor on major maintenance overhauls.
