PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
Taken one year plant training (Practical as well as theory) Sep1992 till Sep1993 in the Naphtha Cracker Stone and Webster Technology and in P.V.C plant BASF slurry suspension process, and in the utilities plant in NOCIL (ROYAL DUTCH SHELL GROUP) Thane Mumbai India Petro-chemical complex and worked as a field and DCS Operation personnel in the Olefins Plant from Sept. 1993 – Nov 2000 in NOCIL.
LATEST WORK PORTFOLIO
Worked as a “DCS/Field Operation Specialist” from Nov-2000 till Sep 2004 in Optimal Olefins, Malaysia a Joint Venture between DOW Chemicals, USA and Petronas Malaysia. The technology is a Linde process, a 650 KTA Ethylene project, Worked here from construction stage of the unit, have been involved in pre commissioning, commissioning and start up activities in the field and DCS for compression section, reaction section, heavy separation section and Ethylene and Propylene Refrigeration section, light separations. Experienced in pre start up activities like punch listing, D.C.S loop checks, function checks, shut down devices function checks start up safety reviews, pressure testing, drying and inertisation of the unit.
Practical experience in preparing safe work permits and setting conditions for preparation of equipment for entry and hot jobs.
Preparation of job packages for equipment purging, inertisation & isolation for turn around activities.
Presently involved in imparting DCS/Field operations training to trainees, assisting as a back up for new DCS operators, preparing permits for various maintenance jobs, trouble shooting various process problems, working for preparation and planning of activities for the future turn around with the turn around planning team, and guiding and leading operations team during plant trips, start ups and emergency shut downs.
SITUATIONS HANDLED DURING PLANT OPERATION
Practical experience in startups and emergency and normal shut downs in the Ethylene Unit and P.V.C units, trouble shooting during normal operation and start ups, additional responsibility as a emergency rescue team member to handle emergencies and fires.
EQUIPMENTS OPERATED
Familiar with emergency and normal operations (start up and shut down) of columns, heat exchangers, reactors, pumps, compressors, gas turbines, reactors, fluid& solid conveyors, worked in atmospheric and pressurised tank farm areas and have handled loading and unloading operations of naphtha, fuel oil, diesel, benzene, ethylene, propylene, propane, butadiene , VCM,EDC and LPG.
UTILITIES EXPERIENCED
Worked as a field operator in water tube boilers, oil/gas, fired, steam pressure 60 kg. cm2 and capacity 220 tons/hr.
Worked in the demineralisation plant generating 200 tonnes /hr of demin water and handled cooling water systems in the Ethylene plant.
Worked in the Liquid Effluent Treatment plant also.
SPECIAL SKILLS.
Familiar with all types of mechanical fittings, can perform minor maintenance jobs, possess an aptitude for mechanical and electrical training.
Experienced in imparting On the Job Training to new recruits and trainees.
Have been working for the last eleven years in shifts of eight and twelve hours rotation.
