Status Computed Axial Tomography Scanner Operator & Information Technology Support

* Operates Unix based computed axial tomography CAT scanner (Picker CT 2000) for scanning rock samples
* Carry out checks and tests calibration of the CAT scanner equipment using the phantom, to establish the characteristics of the X-ray signal as read by the detectors under scanning conditions.
* Carry out routine maintain on the CAT scanner, Unix server, DICOM interface and computer systems
* Using computer commands in proper sequence to produce non-destructive CAT scans of rock samples in various formats such longitudinal, axial, and three-dimensional models etc.
* Using the CAT scanner to identify specific, "non-damaged", full diameter sections to facilitate sampling site selection, detailed density studies for highly interbedded intervals, depth matching and density log comparisons and to evaluate mud invasion
* Using the CAT systems for quality assessment of prepared plug samples prior to specialized core testing, saturation profiling in conjunction with flow studies and fracture analysis.
* Processing of images acquired on the UNIX-based measurements system which are fed via a DICOM interface to a PC workstation where they can be easily viewed, manipulated, re-formatted and saved in TIFF or JPEG file format.
* Accurately manipulate the CAT Scanner equipment to produce optimum quality images.

* Provide information technology (IT) and technical support (software & hardware) for desktop and mobile end-users.
* Required to troubleshoot application issues and hardware setup, including configuration and maintenance of computers and printers.
* Involved in preparation and generation of core analysis reports (digital and hard copies) for different oil wells including spectral gamma plots, histograms, plots on porosity and permeability at different stress plots, plots on different hydraulic unit zonation, using spreadsheets, graphical softwares, customized softwares.
* Support to aid problem resolution and avoidance for computer and timely resolution of problems with technical expertise.
* Involved in core digital imaging and generation of reservoir information browser (RIB) for oil wells.
