During that time period I have been promoted from auxiliary operator, "A" Operator working the Switchgear Console, Board Operator, to one of our Top Notch Shift Supervisors in the Power Utilities Department of Hovensa LLC. I am responsible for supervising the operation of 10 GE Frame 5 combustion Gas Turbines with generators 10 Waste Heat Boilers, one 30 mw steam turbine generator; five Fired Boilers that are designed to produce a total steam capacity of 900,000 LBS./HR; four Desalination Plants that are designed to produce a total of 2,700 GPM of pure drinking water from sea water; four Air Compressors; 30 Substations and all the other equipment that are part of an Oil Refinery with a system generating capacity of 230 MW. 09/89-PRESENT-Shift Supervisor Power plant and Utilities at Hovensa Oil Refinery St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Island Below listed are some of the responsibilities:
* The safely operation of the power plant and equipments, safety of 8 operators on a 12-hour shift tour of duty
* Supervised, trained, certify, and evaluate eight operators assigned to my shift
* Operation of ten General Electric combustion gas turbine and generators with speedtronic simplex and DCS control system, 300# and 600# heat recovery steam generators and associated equipments
* One general electric steam turbine with Mark V control system
* Two eri & co. combined fuel gas/fuel oil burning 600# steam fired boilers With DCS control system
* Three Babcock & Wilcox Combined fuel gas/fuel oil burning 600# steam fired
Boilers with DCS control system
* Five Desalinated water plants with DCS control system
* One 40 bpd Crude unit with associated equipments
* 58 bpd delayed coker unit with gas plant.
* Collected Monthly Kwhr meter reading and prepared Monthly report.
* De-energized 13.8kv, 5kv, 480volt feeders and transformers for Electrical preventive maintenance.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
* When maintenance is completed, conducted inspections of Transformers, breakers etc. And re-energized feeders
* Synchronized generators to the refinery electrical system monitor and balance Voltage, frequency, power factor etc. and make adjustments as required.
* De-energized/re-energized feeders as instructed by power plant Manager, assist in lockout, tag- Out breakers for electrical preventive maintenance
* Collected operating data on feeders every two hours and prepared reports for power Plant management
* Optimize the running gas turbine generators and fired boilers to meet the refinery Power and steam requirements and prepare the daily optimization sheet report.
* Supervise outside operators to isolate, Lockout, Tag-out equipments for maintenance
* Verify proper operations of instrumentation, test automatic shut down devices to ensure devices are operating properly
* Monitor the Bentley Nevada vibration and cems system
* Monitor control room environment to ensure all company policies and standards are being met in a professional business manner
* Reviewed schedule maintenance for the day and monitor progress, Made maintenance work request as required.
