1984 – present: Senior Operation & Production Geologist with SONATRACH

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES
The work is entirely based on a rig where the following work activities during exploration and appraisal drilling projects are typically undertaken:
analysing, evaluating and describing formations while drilling using cuttings, gas, FEMWD (formation evaluation measurement while drilling) and wireline data;
comparing data gathered during drilling with predictions made at exploration stage;
advising operations personnel on site and in operations office;
identifying lithostratigraphic formation boundaries, casing setting depths and coring points calling for coring on shows and gas;
advising on drilling hazards and drilling bit optimisation;
taking full responsibility for making decisions about suspending or continuing drilling;
supervising mudlogging, FEMWD and wireline services personnel;
monitoring quality control in relation to mudlogging, FEMWD and wireline services;
keeping detailed records and writing reports;
undertaking evaluation of offset data before beginning drilling;
maintaining up-to-date knowledge of MWD (measuring while drilling) tools such as gamma and resistivity, as geosteering becomes increasingly important;
liaising with drilling engineers, petroleum engineers and mudloggers;
training staff as required;
acting, in effect, as the representative of the onshore oil company geology team;
communicating with onshore operations offices;
ensuring transmission of logs and reports;
supervising one or more wells in the same area.

DETAILED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
The Algerian Petroleum Institute (I.A.P) is an Institute dedicated to the Algerian Petroleum Industry As high School of State Engineer. The lectures and the laboratory courses at the Institute are designed towards practical applications within the Oil & Gas Industry. The I. A. P is sponsored by Mining and petroleum industry.

I had onsite training and well placement during my fourth senior years spent at the Institute where I had to participate in numerous field trips and seminars including mapping, sedimentology, structural, geochemistry, petrography, geophysics achievements with high Graduate teacher and professors from I. F. P (French Petroleum Institute) in the Northern mountains Areas Tellian Atlas Ridges & Saharan Atlasic Ridges of Algeria and in the Sahara desert Tassili and Ougarta ridges.

The fifth year was spent within SONATRACH (National Oil & Gas Company )Exploration department, research branch in Algiers doing thesis the topic is the study of Sedimentology and reservoir Aspect of the Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian, Turonian, Coniacian) Carbonate plat form in Southern part of North Atlasic Ridges.

In October 1984, I began my employment with SONATRACH, with whom I am still presently employed.
My primary duties are concerned with well site geological supervision including onsite drilling supervision, this entails all aspects of the daily operations of exploration and development wells and includes supervision and all geology interpretation in well site Coring, Wire line Logging, Well testing procedures, including day to day reporting and the preparation of the well final reports and the composite logs.

I am versant with the operations of various Mud logging services Companies including Geoservices, Baker Hughes Inteq, Data Log in addition to the Algerian mud logging company C.R.D
I am also familiar with some of the computer Log drawing packages including terra sciences, Cambrian's Pierre and Geo software.
I have directed and participated in numerous coring, wire line logging and reservoir well testing operations throughout different prospects in south and north of Algeria during my employment with SONATRACH with emphasis on the SAHARA Area of operations.
I have had to work in close cooperation with many overseas Oil Companies and their geological staff who have leases in Algeria.
