1989-Present Process Operator - Methanex Corporation

Duties: Responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of a 1400 tonne/day Methanol plant and an 800 tonne/day Ammonia plant.
Activities range from working field areas to training junior members to maintaining safety among all workers in our plant (I am a pioneering member of the BST Steering Committee). We have extensive troubleshooting training,. Firefighting/first response training has also been afforded the employees of Methanex. I have learned all aspects of field operation and am currently working in the control room, which uses the PLC and DCS systems.

My work experience at Methanex Corporation(my current employer) includes gas sweetening, steam reforming of natural gas, raising 11,000kPa superheated steam, catalyst conversions, two tower distillation, high tonnage ammonia refrigeration, freon 12/22 systems, cryogenic air liquefaction and separation, gas turbine generators(900 kw), water demineralization, and the world's first KAAP ammonia reactor, 5500hp reciprocating compressors.

EXPERIENCE:

-Safely and efficiently operate a 350 tonne/day Ammonia Plant from the control room on a Foxboro D.C.S and a Nematron PLC system.
-Train junior employees in the above control room position, as well as, the seven field areas of the Methanol and Ammonia plants.
-Issue Safe Work Permits, writing Lockouts, Safe Operating Procedure's, trouble shooting process conditions and assisting other departments.
-Lockouts, purging, proving and monitoring of all equipment and work in my area of responsibility
-Carry out operational maintenance on plant equipment.
-Foxboro D.C.S, Nematron P.L.C. system.
-Steam reforming of natural gas.
-Methanol, Ammonia, and Sulfur converters.
-10,000 kpa fire tube boiler
-10,000 kpa condensing and extracting steam driven turbine.
-High-pressure syngas multi stage compressors and feed water pumps.
-Gas and steam driven electrical generators.
-Natural gas fired boilers.
-Large natural gas fired Process heaters.
-Ammonia refrigeration systems.
-Kellogg auto thermal secondary reformer using enriched oxygen
