A consultant supplying marine ship pilotage and oil terminal operational expertise to the oil industry. Have recently completed an 11-year contract as an oil terminal Marine Superintendent at the Punta Europa Marine Terminal in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa for Walter International Inc., CMS Nomeco Inc., CMS Oil & Gas Company.

The full package of services included the start up and all marine aspects of a multi-buoy CBM oil terminal operation handling the export of a refrigerated LPG mixture, clean condensate, and methanol products. These duties were wide ranging that included but were not limited to the following:
* Responsible for monitoring the daily product inventories held in tank storage at the terminal and the coordination of all tanker lifting's from the terminal.
* The close liaison with the Company Marketing Department in scheduling, vetting, approval, to ensure the timely arrivals and departures of approximately 70 tankers per year that loaded products at the terminal.
* The liaison with Oil Traders, Independent Cargo Surveyors, Ship's Agents, E.G. Government Petroleum Inspectors, Customs Officers on operational matters relating to the export of products.
* The pilotage of tankers up to 130,000 dwt into the terminals CBM berth. Supervise the connection/disconnection of the loading hoses, interface with the tankers staff and act as Loading Master for the loading operation.
* Reconcile the quantity of product loaded between the surveyors, tankers staff and the purchaser's representative.
* On receipt of the purchasers Documentation Instructions prepare the Bills of Lading and all the other commercial cargo documentation for the export of the cargo. Complete the same on board the tanker on completion of loading.
* Operational input into condensate and LPG commercial sales contracts and verifying any demurrage claims.
* Writing a Terminals Regulations/Operations Manual, writing loading procedures for various products loaded.
* Superintend the surface, and sub-sea berth maintenance by diving contractors. Superintend anchor-handling work of the mooring buoy chain legs during three berth upgrades. Company's offshore representative during pipe laying operations at the berth.

The previous clients during this period have been:

MOBIL Equatorial Guinea Inc. - Pre-operational start up evaluation of the export tanker mooring and oil export procedures on board their FPSO 'ZAFIRO PRODUCER' at the ZAFIRO Oil Field offshore Equatorial Guinea.

Oceaneering Equatorial Guinea Inc. - Responsible for safe pilotage, tandem bow to bow mooring and loading of 150,000 dwt export tankers onto the rigidly moored FPSO 'ZAFIRO PRODUCER' offshore Equatorial Guinea.

OPE Inc., Houston – Single Buoy Mooring oil terminal project for El Paso Energy offshore Ghana.

Argosy International Ltd. & VITOL S.A. An FSO project for the export of fuel oil offshore Nigeria.

Aker Omega Marine Inc., Houston – Berthed the first and most of the subsequent tankers at the Punta Europa CBM facility above.

IRVING OIL LIMITED
Marine Superintendent and Mooring Master 1984 to 1992

The Marine Superintendent duties involved the day to day operations of Irving Oil's fleet of four 38,000 tons dwt. tankers trading foreign, and three smaller coastal tankers trading on the east coast of Canada as well as the cold weather environment of the high Arctic. Assisted, and relieved the Operations Manager as required, in the fulfilment of the vessel's charter party arrangements, stemming vessels bunkers requirements, appointing agents and the general liaison with the charterers on voyage orders.

Responsible for the anti pollution control, maintenance, statutory certification, safety, and general ship husbandry of the fleet.

Mooring Master at Irving Oil's Single Point Mooring (SPM) crude oil handling facility at Canaport located 4,000 feet offshore in the Bay of Fundy. Responsible for the safe and efficient berthing, discharge of tankers of up to 400,000 tons dwt. Coordinator for all crude oil ship to ship transfer operations for Irving Oil in the Bay of Fundy.

OCEAN INCHCAPE LIMITED
Master / Mooring Master 1977 to 1984

Mate and Master with the Ocean Inchcape fleet of offshore supply vessels in the North Sea, SBM Maintenance vessel for ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia. Six years as Mooring Master at the Shell Petroleum Development Company SBM crude oil loading terminal at Bonny, Nigeria handling VLCC / ULCC tonnage of up to 310,000 tons dwt.
