Aims and ambitions
To apply the Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Management, Technical & analytical skills, gained during my scientific training and subsequent employment, in the development of my career as a HSE Manager within a reputable international organization. In doing so I would hope to bring the maximum benefit to my employer while assuring him of my best services and dedication.
Brief profile
After Post graduation (M.Sc) from university, I joined SHELL international Petroleum company in 1990 in operations management cadre. I was confirmed in service after a one year probation training period. I have continued to work with this major international oil company until the present time, gaining experience including HSSE( Health, Safety, Security & Environment), Fire prevention, Occupational Health & Behavioral Safety, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), Industrial safety and operations management. I am an IRCA registered and certificated ISO 18001:2007(OHSAS) & 14001:2004(EMS) Lead Auditor.

Responsibilities To provides technical expertise in the field of safety and Environment management and risk discipline including Loss Prevention, Safe loading/discharging Operations, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis. Develops plans including accident prevention, fire prevention, environmental protection, waste disposal, hazard analysis, support to Operations, Maintenance and Engineering personnel on environment protection, training, Hearts & Minds sessions educational and inspection programs, contractor's safety and automotive safety defensive driving programs To effectively implement HSE Management System and Accidents / Incidents Prevention programs. Safety and risk management plans, procedures and standards to ensure that the Company's facilities and operational processes pose minimal risk. Manages hazard identification programs, monitors and tracks trends and recommends alternatives to minimize risk. Manages overall risk inventory, risk ranking and risk management functions. Occupational Health management and Behavioral safety, Industrial safety, Fire prevention & fighting, Act as focal point on HSE related matters and also with MAERP(mutual aid emergency response plan)partners. Contacts/liaison with police, other government authorities and insurance agents related to accident investigations. To ensure controls are established for safe operation of terminals against all identified hazards, Oil Terminals HSSE administration, HAZOP Analysis, Risk assessment, Site Safety, Monitoring of MHMS, Lead resource for HRA(health risk assessment), Logistics and distribution, Movement and transportation of Petroleum products country wide and export. Strict compliance and Implementation of PPE. Fire Fighting equipment procurement, maintenance & activities, Staff awareness and training. Prepare budgets for the HSE department. Preparation of reports on safety (incidents/accidents/near misses), environmental protection and fire. Highlights shortcomings and recommends new techniques or programs aimed at improving loss prevention and preventing the recurrence of accidents /incidents. Ensures implementation of plans, compliance to HSE practices. Coordinates with Medical Services, Police Authorities on matters related to incidents / accidents involving plant/installations' personnel and properties, employees' medical check up, training for first aid, emergency response and other activities related to Health, Safety and Environment. Coordinates with other sections to ensure that all employees and contractors are aware of safety, environment and fire regulations, standards and procedures.
Initiates, implements and reviews comprehensive audit/inspection programs to ensure that all safety, occupational health, HIV/AIDS prevention and training, environmental and fire protection regulations and programs are strictly complied with. Audits the effectiveness and implementation of various progress, proper inspection of work sites and atmosphere of hazardous locations, issues recommendations accordingly. To plan, organize and follow up of HSE audits/surveys and inspection.
1996 – 2001 Senior Operation HSE Superintendent
Responsibilities HSE monitoring & management of Depot / Installation Operations(Receipt, Storage, Loading Operations, Supply & Distribution). Transport safety & PPE, Implementation of safety policies, training of crew, maintenance of safety standards and liaison with contractors. Quality & Quantity control, Product transfer via road/rail/sea. Developing, maintaining and monitoring Conducting HSE Courses for staff and contractors. Implementation of PPE standards.
1990-1995 HSE Section Superintendent
Responsibilities Managing HSSE, HAZOP, HEMP, Fire fighting & PPE for Operations, Terminal, Ship to shore activity. Ensuring implementation of HSSE and fire fighting standards on all operations, transport & logistics activities.
Full details of duties carried out
HSSE
Directs the activities of assigned personnel, including contractors to ensure compliance with company's objectives, policies and procedures, within area of responsibility. Performs supervisory functions and exercises financial authority at the level established by management for the position. Support to Operations, Maintenance and Engineering personnel on environment protection.
2. Oversees processes involving the facilities to ensure safety and minimize risk from the environmental, health and safety perspective.
3. Participates in the selection of equipment and materials. Assesses safety and risk involved to determine if impact meets or exceeds company's policies and standards. Recommends purchase, selection or modifications accordingly.
4. Monitors and controls the systematic identification, assessment and control of hazards and risks during projects and operations undertaken by the Company. Monitors critical activities, maintains the risk inventory, coordinates qualitative and quantitative risk analysis.

5. Manages the hazard identification process, coordinates HAZOP, formal safety assessments, process safety management issues and the management of change to identify implications. Reviews procedures and systems and analyses statistics to produce trends to initiate remedial actions.
6. Develops safety operational procedures covering mechanical electrical isolation, fire protection systems, escape, evacuation and rescue systems, pre-start up and safety reviews. Follows up to ensure implementation and compliance.
7. Participates in activities relating to developing systems for facilities shutdown to provide technical guidance on process safety and risk management issues.
8. Prepares regular reports on progress, performance, losses, failures, achievements, tracking and trending and expectations for the future for management information and decision-making.
9. Administers process safety and risk aspects of the HSE Management system, ensuring the collection and recording of up-to-date and useful data.
10. Ensures that personnel comply with the Company's QHSE Policies, Procedures & Guidelines, and comply with legislative and regulatory HSSE requirements. Develop and implement technical QHSE instructions as required.
11. Ensures all incidents are reported correctly and lead incident investigations of QHSE incidents as required.
12. Performs other similar or related duties as and when required.
