ONGC OFFSHORE (BOMBAY HIGH), INDIA
The estimated in-place reserve of this heavy oil is 14.60 MMT and that of gas is 9.29 BSCUM. The production of gas from Jaisalmer Basin started in July 1996 and currently 0.40 MMSCMD of natural gas is produced and supplied to Rajasthan State Electricity Board for power generation at Ramgarh.
GAS SWEETENING UNIT
The GSU has total 5 trains. Each train having capacity to sweetned 5 MMNM³/D of Natural Gas.
Natural Gas/Crude containing H²S, This H²S deadly poisonous at concentration above 600 PPM. It can fatal just 3 or 5 minutes. Its Toxicity is comparable to cyanide. Thus it cannot be tolerated in Gas/Crude that would be used as Domestic/Industrial use. Moreover that H²S corrosive to all metals, processing & handling systems & may lead to premature failure in most such system. H²S & other sulfur Compounds can also cause catalyst poisoning in refinery process. So this H²S is need to removal from Gas/Condensate. Most prominently used Process in this removal is Alkanol-Amine Process for removal of H²S& CO².

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensuring normal Operation e.g. Plant & Equipment.
* Routine checking of all Equipment & Recording of Operational & Process Parameters.

* Report time abnormalities & failing & take corrective measures according to the instructions from the control room.
* To check Amine level in Storage Tank.
* Drain out the water in Sugar drum Flash vessel by informing to C/R.
* To check compressor, load, Temperature, pressure etc. & also check the compressor auxiliary equipment's parameters.
* If any body found in any one area of operational filed. Inform to C/R for immediate action.

UTILITIES AND OFFSITE AREAS
I have also worked in utilities & offsite areas.
The utility consists of (1) Raw Water system, (2) Cooling, Water system Compressed air system, (3) Nitrogen System, (4) Flair System, (5) Process of Waste Water System, (6) Tank farm Areas.

(1) RAW WATER SYSTEM
Raw water is required to make the cooling water make-up. Fire water make-up, Service water, Feed to soft water system in boiler package & sanitary requirements. The raw water from reservoir in Pre-treatment plant to remove turbidity/TSS etc.

THE PRE-TREATMENT OF RAW WATER SHALL CONSISTS OF
(1) Pre-chlorination
(2) Coagulation with alum
(3) Clariflocculation
(4) Gravity sand filtrations (rapid type)
(5) Post Cholrination of Drinking water.

The post treated raw water quality should be maintain the checking of following lab parameters Ph, Turbidity, TSS, CA-hardness, MG-hardness, Total hardness Chlorides, Sulphate etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
(1) Check reservoir level and outflow regularly & accordingly adjust flow.
(2) Check pumps, Blowers & motors lubrication regularly.
(3) Evolve routine pump change regularly over programmer & run accordingly to keep all the pumps in good working condidtion.

(2) COOLING WATER SYSTEM
Cooling tower to cater to total cooling requirement for process plants. Cooling water system consists of cooling tower cells, Cooling water re-circulation pumps. Cooling fans, Chemical dosing facilities, Chlorine dosing to check microbiological growht, Chemical dosing for corrosion, Scale deposit control, sulphuric acid dosing for PH control and blow down and side stream filtration for dissolve and suspended solid control respectively.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
(1) Check the cooling water sump level & make up the water it required.
(2) Checks discharge and return header pressure, if any pressure drop/difference-appropriate action to be taken.
(3) Evolve Routine pump change over and run accordingly and check the pump and machinery condition. The pump to be handed over to maintenance accordingly if found any problem.

(2) COMPRESSED AIR SYSTEM
Compressed air is used as instrument air. Plant air is required foe cleaning, blowing and operationg pneumatic tools and instrument air is required for instrumentation equipment's such as control valves, shut down valves etc. The system consists of compressor, instrument air dryers and air receivers. Compressors dischargeds compressed air into common receiver-from where both instrument & plant air supplies originate.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Check compressor abnormal sound, discharge pressure at each stage (inlet, outlet), loading mechanism, bearing temperature, air temperature (inlet, outlet) at each stage, lube-oil pressure, level, lube-oil pressure, level and Temperature and prime. Mover motor ampere and cooling water temperature in each stage (inlet, outlet), & check dew-point Temperature in air dryer.

And also pertaining the compressor suction filter cleaning, air dryer filter cleaning lubricate all valves & top up-oil in lubricator Check for functioning of trap, mositure separator of compressor, inter cooler etc.

NITROGEN SYSTEM (N2)
Nitrogen is requried in the plant mainly during initial start up & after shut down for purging the system. N2 Gas would also be used continuously for balancing (Blanketing) of methanol vessel, pentane bullet & hot oil tanks. Compressed air at suitable Pressure from compressor is first cooled to ambient temperature by a water cooler. This air is then introduced in absorber filled with carbon molecular sieves where O², Co² and moisture are selectively absorbed. The unabsorbed gas mainly containing N2 is sent to N2 receiver. The Nitrogne generator consists of 2 absorbers filled with CMS, at a time one-absorber remains in absorption cycle while the other undergoes re-generation by pressure swing principal.
FLAIR SYSTEM
Flair System has been provided for safe deposit of flammable, toxic or corrosive vapours discharged by pressure relief system. Tile flair system consists of a flair header, a KOD a blow down pump, a water sealdrum, and flair front generator.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
To check water level in seal drum & maintain water level always and blow down the heavy hydrocarbons from flare KOD.

PROCESS OF WASTE WATER SYSTEM (PWS)
Oil/Gas sector generates large volume of wastewater containing oil, suspended solids, Dissolved solids, BOD, COD, etc. Oil and dissolved solids are normally in very high concentration besides high salinity. Treatment of such water to meet the standards lay down by statutory bodies and safe disposal of sludge generated from the treatment system.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
* To check PH value in each unit & Chemical dosing as required amount as pire flow rate of plant.
* Change over of Pumps & Machinery's accordingly.
* Check plant abnormality & take action against the problem, Check lab parameters.

TANK FARM AREA
* Tank farm areas normally consists OS sphere, bullet, Tanks such as floating roof. Cone roof tank, merceptane-dosing unit, re-circulation pumps, loading pumps. The main purpose of tanks for safety storage and handling of final product.

Plant operator in CAIRN ENERGY Dealing with such systems as Oil Production, Gas Compression, Utilities and Water Injection.

For all systems I monitor and record plant status and bring deviations to Control Room Operator or Production Supervisor. I prepare process systems for maintenance by applying isolations, venting, purging, etc. I also carry out daily logs on the plant including walk around visual inspections. I also carry out regular sampling on various systems such as Lubrication Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Heating and Cooling Medium, Gas Export, Tri Ethylene Glycol, BS&W, Wet Well, etc.

Oil Production Duties – BS&W Sampling, Wet Well Sampling, Chemical Injection Rates, Bunkering Chemicals, Oil In Water Overboard Analyzing, Sub-Sea Systems including Hydraulic Power Unit and Oil Purification Unit.

Gas Compression Duties – Dealing with Seltzer Gas Compressors, Tri Ethylene Glycol Gas Dehydration System, Gas Export Sampling.

Utility Systems Duties – Dealing with Compressed Air System, Fresh Water System, Sea Water Cooling Systems, Marine Growth Prevention System, Refrigeration System

Water Injection Duties - Oxygen Analyzing, Vacuum Pumps, Oxygen Denigrator Tower, Booster Pumps, Main Water Injection Pumps.

Opening & Closing well head, well choke changing operation (GOR), operation of wing valve, Master valve crown, SSSV, SSV, X'-Mas tree operation (Single & Dual Completion), Solid block, fanged with hydraulic/pneumatic operation, Sub Sea well operation, Chock manifold operation, Isolation of Flow Lines, Studying Difference in pressure by taking reading, Calculation of Production of Wells.

WELL TESTING
Flowing the well through various sizes of chokes through three stages Separator, Separator changing, diverting the well into the Separator, operating & normalizing with different size of orifice plate to measure the quantity of Gas. Oil & Water rate is measured by positive displacement meter or (Turbine meter with Totalizer), controlling of separator pressure using Pneumatic Controller.

WELL STIMULATION
Active the well pumping Acid (HCL is commonly used, inhibitors, Surfactants) through cementing unit or active the well by Gas injection in Case of Artificial Gas Injection Completions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* To assist the Production Engineer in work over, Production, Testing Well completion & platform operation in ABAN OFFSHORE Ltd.
* And also any other task assigned by the Engineer in-charge from time to time.
* Duty Time 12hrs p/day but 24hr on call.
