Master / Marine Superintendent - FPSO Greater Plutonio

BP Exploration & Production, Angola

Responsibility for the operation of the FPSO Terminal, riser and export buoy, as well as all marine & subsea activities inside the 500m zone. Greater Plutonio is a 181thousand grt, 220mbd deepwater fpso.

Stand-in OIM for emergency response.

Ensure all marine operations fall in line with the facility Safety Case requirements as well as local and international legislation. Ensured that the facility achieved Class certification as well as maintained this through commissioning and into operations.

During the transition from Project to Operations I was responsible for creating the Operating Procedures for the terminal. Worked closely with Health Safety & Environment department in the implementation of the our Safety Case, and development of HAZOP's and P&ID reviews.

Supervised the final commissioning of the export system, calm buoy, blanket gas smothering and crude oil washing systems. As well as overseeing the first export from the terminal, I supervised one year of successful incident free export operations.

Proudly responsible for the training and development of Angolan Nationals to the level of Marine CRT in all areas both export, marine and engineering.

Development of the operational ethos between Production and Marine in BP Explorations' second FPSO - a template now to be followed by the next generation of fpso's for Angola.

2006 - 2007

Marine Coach - FPSO Greater Plutonio

BP Exploration & Production, Angola

Responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the fpso hull and export systems within the Health and Safety expectations of BP.

Direct involvement in the training, development of the Angolan Technicians, with primary responsibilities of coaching and competency assurance.

During the Project phase was seconded to Construction team to assist in the final stages of the Hull build, outfitting and quality control in HHI Korea. This rolled into Commissioning where I provided marine assurance and experience for the hull, cargo, and machinery systems. Assisted in the Tow from South Korea to Angola, and then the mooring, hook-up and final commissioning of the fpso into a terminal.

Successfully implemented the ISPS compliance as a Port Facility.

Direct experience in the development and design of a new-build $7.5billion deepwater fpso for BP. On the Greater Plutonio fpso with BP I developed myself from a role specialising in the competency assurance to Master / Superintendent supervising the operation of the fpso as a Terminal. Training in Management of Major Emergencies. Throughout construction, hookup and commissioning gained valuable insight into subsea and production activities and their interaction with marine.

Commercial

Commercial experience as responsible person for fpso terminal Bill of Lading. I have extensive practical experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of floating facilities. Management position on board spot-market trading tankers whilst under the administration of BP Shipping and am familiar with Oil Major operational and safety expectations.
