Internship Internship in BP Pakistan E&P Inc;

British Petroleum is a multinational and largest oil producing company in the world. During my internship period I learnt many plant procedures likewise Di-ethanol amine process which is being used for the removal of CO2 from gas stream, Tri ethylene glycol process (Dehydration system). These both systems are PLC based system. Gas Compressors, crude oil & Gas separation, Heater Treater function, Water injection system which includes Water injection pumps, Filtration unit, Gun Barrels & Tanks. I have been involved in Dispatching of Crude oil and sampling for PTB. I participated in a Shutdown activity. Where I learned about the Shutdown/Start-up procedure.

I also gone through all the procedures policies for the safe working environment of BP and learned about the Permit to Work System, Task Risk Assessment, Isolation certification etc. while at BP Pakistan I learned many modern and effective ways of safety assurance just like BP's HSE policy and BP's concern toward a better environment.

Achievements

I have got certificate during erection and commissioning of Viscose preparation section with Chinese delegation at chemi visco fibre Nawabshah.
I have got certificate during erection and commissioning of Ethanol Dehydration Unit with French delegation at Unicol ethanol Refinery.

Currently Working May 1st 2007 to date at Unicol Ethanol Refinery, Mirpurkhas as "Shift Engineer"

Unicol ethanol Refinery uses latest Honeywell DCS system I have done erection and commissioning with the help of P&IDs, PFDs and Isometric drawings. I am working as a Shift In-charge. I am responsible for all the activities of plant like Dehydration of ethanol by adsorbers, Refining of ethanol, Vacuum/Pressure distillation, (Reverse Osmosis) RO Water plant, Effluent treatment plant, Sampling of produced alcohol, loading/unloading of molasses and alcohol, to check laboratory analysis and provide chemical in Pre-fermentation and also adjust the Flow of B-grade alcohol on the lab analysis basis. During field activity provide instruction to field operator. During the unavailability of Safety In-charge, I deliver lectures about plant operations and HSE policy. I have expertise in plant start-up and shutdown.

Employment History April 01st 2006 to March 1st 2007 Dewan Ethanol Refinery at Dewan City, District Thatta

Dewan Ethanol Refinery uses latest Honeywell DCS system and the plant is fully dependent on DCS. I worked as a Senior DCS Operator. At Dewan Refinery my duties include Dehydration of ethanol by adsorbers, refining of ethanol by vacuum/pressure distillation, cooling towers, to check routine analysis and take positive action for the improvement of plant. I was acknowledged for the modification at Boiler area for saving heat energy. I use to check laboratory analysis during shift and suggest chemical dosing in Pre-fermentation. I often times participated in start-up and shutdown activity and preferred over others.

Al-Abbas ethanol Refinery uses latest Honeywell DCS system and the plant is fully adopted on DCS. I supervised the Effluent treatment section, Distillation section, Fermentation section, Mash Preparation Section, Pre-fermentation section, forced/Induce draft cooling towers, Sand Filters, Instrument compressors. This Refinery helped me to grow my confidence in doing efficient and cost-saving start-up and shutdown procedure.

Chemi Visco Fibre Nawabshah is largest plant in Asia and this plant is one of its types in Pakistan. Chemi Visco Fibre Nawabshah uses latest Freelance2000 DCS system and the plant has complete adoptability with DCS System. I worked as a DCS operator at viscose preparation section. I worked through the erection and commissioning period with Chinese delegation. I started Viscose preparation section for the first time through DCS during commissioning in Chemi Viscose fibre Nawabshah, with assistance of Chinese delegation. I supervised Caustic Soda dilution section on difference concentration, loading/unloading of NaOH, Xanthation Process. I learned here how to start the plant and shutdown the plant.
