2. 7 th OCTOBER 2004 TO 9 th APRIL 2008.
Working as vigilance engineer in Ravi Chemical Complex (formerly named as Ravi Rayon Limited) this is the commercial industry under establishment of Pakistan. It is the one of main leading producer of glacial acetic acid of concentration 99.6% where my responsibilities are key Responsibilities
* Working as a Vigilance Engineer at RCC, independently managing and handling all the plant related activities and issues regarding production control, safety and hazard management, coordination with other departments in order to meet the strategic and commercial market demands and targets.
* About 3 years working experience of both classified and commercial chemical plants.
* Working as a design team member for R&D and design reviews of the existing plants using computer aided tools (HYSIS, ChemCAD) in order to run the plants at most economical process parameters.
* Team member of operation group and responsible for the smooth operation of different chemical plants which involves Ethyl Alcohol, Acetic Acid, Acetone, Acetic Anhydride, Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate, Di Sodium Phosphate, Air Separation Plant, Baker Yeast and Tri Butyl Phosphate (TBP) plant.
* Working experience of R&D, Design, Erection and commissioning of Ethyl Acetate and Butyl Acetate Plants.
* Also been involved in the operation of Utilities such as Boilers, Steam Turbines for power generation, Cooling Towers, Water Treatment plant, Refrigeration and Chillers, Compressors.
* Preparing different checklists and SOPs for hazardous and critical equipments and processes.
* Preparing monthly consumption figures of different plants for reviewing and analyzing the economics and overhead losses.
Acetic Acid Plant
* Execution and startup of Reactor for highly exothermic catalytic reaction (~600oC) and controlling and taking all safety measures to ensure proper conversion of Alcohol into Acetaldehyde.
* Pursuing and controlling Oxidation Process of Acetaldehyde to Crude Acetic Acid (Black Acid).
* Deal with both Steam Distillation and Rectification section to achieve 99.5 % pure Acetic Acid.
* Treatment of Dilute Acetic acid (~50%) to kill the Formic Acid (formed as a byproduct in the reactor) to make it salable commercially.
* Major equipments involves in this plant are Evaporators, Catalytic Reactors, Steam Separator, Blowers, Oxidizers (Packed Bubble Columns), Distillation Columns (Packed and tray), intermediate storage vessels, water seals, pumps.
Acetone Plant
* Involved in Furnace Operation and controlling the very critical parameters of temperature and pressure for catalytic conversion of Ethanol into crude dilute Acetone at about 450oC.
* Looking after the Absorption section of acetone vapors into dilute crude Acetone, DCA and then finally distillation columns to obtain 99.5 % Acetone.
* Handling and controlling the Batch Distillation process for recovering acetone and valuable products removed in side cuts streams of different columns and reprocessing in the main process.
Air Separation Plant (Linde and PSA)
* Have working experience of Linde plant in which cryogenic process is carried out and 99.6 % pure Oxygen is separated at -183oC (B.P) and Nitrogen at -195oC (B.P).
* Involved in startup, shutdown, troubleshooting maintenance jobs of Linde plant.
* Responsible and key team member in the commissioning and erection of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) plant in which Oxygen is separated from Air by diffusion and Nitrogen is adsorbed on Zeolite Molecular Sieves, ZMS at about 6 Bar of system pressure.
* Been involved in the testing, startup, calibration of PSA equipment, purity achievement, and finally production of 93 % pure oxygen.
* Preparing checklists and execution of day to day and periodic maintenance schedule tasks.
Ethyl Acetate & Butyl Acetate Plant
* Have worked on R&D involved in carrying out the formation of above Esters (EA & BA) both at laboratory scale and finally scale up to commercial level at RCC.
* Involved in the designing, commissioning, erection, startup and smooth running of both Esterification plants as batch and Continuous process.
* Preparing PIDs, PFDs, PDs and SOPs for the plants also conducting in-house trainings for technical staff and operators.
3. 14 thAPRIL 2008 TO STILL CONTINUE.
WORKING AS PLANT OPERATOR ON PROPYLENE DEHYDROGENATION PLANT in NATIONAL PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPANY IN YANBU SAUDIARABIA.
PDH plant is a Propane dehydrogenation unit and essentially consist of following main units
OLEFLEXiK This is UOP moving bed catalyst process designed to selectively de-hydrogenate Paraffin's feed to corresponding mono-olefins.(Propane to Propylene) Design conversion is 34%.
Cryogenic separation unit &compressor section
That mainly separates hydrogen from propane/propylene stream at extremely low
Temperature, -165C.
Feed Preparation and Fractionation unit mainly consist of distillation columns.
Grenco refrigeration unit
Two Auxiliary boilers high pressure steam boilers with 146 ton/hr steam production at 44 bar. Boilers are made by Babcock & Wilcox where my responsibilities are
To run feed treatment section contained feed guard beds, feed driers, and depropaniser distillation column.
To run deethanizer distillation column containing stripper and rectifier refrigeration section.
To run polypropylene splitter containing one distillation column of 205 plates.
To run 13.1mwatt load turbine driven heat pump compressor.
To control flow rates, temperatures, pressures and levels.
To keep an eye on implementation of overall policy of the Organization.
To deal with services departments for smooth running of equipments.
To write comprehensive log book at the end of shift.
To run refrigeration unit.
To run pressure swing adsorption unit.
To run boiler of capacity 146 tons/hr and pressure of 45 bar.
I have atmospheric gas testing certification.
Plant Safety certification conducted by Safety Specialist of NATPET.
Member of emergency response team.
I am also certified mentor of plant giving training of field to new operators.
