Designation Senior Engineer Production

Primary Responsibilities:
* Work Site Activity
Operate the offshore Oil &Gas field connected by sub sea pipeline to onshore oil and gas processing and evacuation facility during normal operation as well as planned shutdown, start-up and emergency modes. Operation of all sections of the plant (viz. Inlet Receival Area/Oil Processing/ Condensate Stabilisation/Gas Compression and Dehydration/Hydrocarbon Dew Point Control of sales Gas etc.), monitoring & control systems, pipelines and metering systems, and mentoring and training of Junior staff in their relevant discipline.
o Monitor routine plant and equipment operations e.g. start-up, shutdown and monitoring.
o Perform first line maintenance and reporting faults on plant and equipment.
o Prepare plant and equipment for maintenance e.g. depressurises, vent and drain.
o Identify, prepare and apply process isolations.
o Assist with routine shutdown and shutdown maintenance activities.
o Supervise and coach junior staff.
o Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) process and review conclusions.
o Apply STOP techniques and working practices during daily activity.
o Monitor maintenance or construction work sites for compliance with Permit to Work and company standards.
o Document review e.g. Operating Procedures, modification work packs etc.
o Prepare Daily Operations Logs.
o Ensure that all records/logs/certificates are maintained and updated to provide evidence of terminal conformance to Cairn India HSE standards.
o Support commissioning and optimisation of new and modified plant.
o Ensure discharges and flaring levels are monitored, recorded and controlled.

* Planning
Contribute to the planning of work programmes to maximise overall efficiency; and to assist other members of the team as required to carry out the planned work programmes.
* Personal/Team Performance Measurement and Improvement
Develop self and team in line with set criteria and standards using Cairn India performance measurement and improvement tools and guidelines.
* Communication and Information
Support the facilities Communications Guidelines and provide quality information concerning all aspects of work and equipment status to supervisor and colleagues using existing reporting protocol.
* Emergency Response
Perform Emergency Response duties as defined in the Emergency Response Plan and company standards.

When I joined Nirma Ltd. Bhavnagar in Sept.1998 and the company was in the initial phase of setting up a green field project for the manufacture of Soda Ash, Pure Water Plant, and Captive Power Plant. We could commission the facility in record time of two years of site mobilisation in March 2000. During this period I have handled erection & commissioning activities of following equipments/unit operations:
Absorption of NH3 in brine, Distillation of NH4Cl and NH4OH, Vacuum Distillation of fluid containing NH3, CO2 and H2O, Carbonation (Absorption of CO2 in ammoniated brine and Crystallization of crude sodium bicarbonate), Brine Purification, Calcination using 35 bar steam in rotary heat exchangers, Filtration, Lime Kilns (converts lime stone to CO2 and lime), CO2 Compression to 3 bar, Heat transfer using Shell & tube and Plate Type Heat Exchangers, Pneumatic Conveying, Fluid Bed Dryer & Cooler, Triple Effect evaporators etc.

After commissioning of the project I have handled production planning & control function of above said unit operations. In 2001 we have expanded capacity by33%, by adding a parallel stream. During expansion I was involved in project execution activities and subsequently in production planning & control function.
