PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
New Tech Engineering Houston, TX
1/2004 to Present
Senior Contract Drilling Supervisor
* Working offshore Santa Barbara, California on a platform rig in 835' of water doing re-completions & preparing to drill two extended reach wells in the most environmentally sensitive area in the world. The re-completions utilized dual strings to produce an upper zone while injecting water in the lower. One completion required a triple string of tubing. The extended reach wells will have a TVD of 6000' and 19,500' MD.
* Drilled three very challenging under balanced horizontals on land for Ogden Resources. With one being a re-entry utilizing a whip stock to build the curve. Successfully drilled a fifth lateral in the same formation on one well
* Supervised the stripping and well control operations for Magnum Hunter Resources on a well that had been swabbed in while tripping out of hole. Well had surface pressure of 4200 psi with 17.3-ppg oil based mud in the hole.
* Re-entered a well for Adams Resources that had a hole in the production casing and was to be P/A'ed. Set a 5-1/2" drilling liner at 15 degrees. Drilled under balanced up and down dip "turnazontal" laterals. Saving the well and increasing the production for the operator.
El Paso Production Co. Houston, TX.
1/2002 – 1/2004
Drilling and Completion Supervisor in the Gulf of Mexico
* Worked a rotation on a jack-up drilling rig as a drilling supervisor for El Paso Production in the "Deep Shelf Gas" play. Supervised daily operations, safety programs, drilling, completion, logistics, plug & abandonment. Drilled all wells at or under AFE with no lost time accidents.
* Wells being HTHP, having H2S and very challenging to depths of 21,000' with mud weights to 18.5 ppg. Utilizing oil and water based muds, PDC bi-center bits, downhole motors, drilling gyros, LWD/MWD/PWD's and top drives. Ran or drove casing strings, liner hangers and liners ranging in size from 60" to 5". Performed cementing of casing strings and squeeze cementing.
* Coordination of logistics for equipment and personnel. Responsible for well control, daily reports, safety meetings, forecasts, environmental spills, MMS, stop card program and the interaction with production.
* Completed wells drilled using zinc bromide and calcium chloride with weights up to 16.5ppg. Procedures used during completions were wire line, open and cased hole logging, perforation with TCP, downhole gauges, rig run seismic, running production tubing, sand screens, sub-surface safety control valves, packers, installed well heads, well testing, plug & abandonment. Supervised high rate gravel packs.
* Completed one well on the TLP Prince in 1500' of water.
* Computer programs utilized: Dims, Perc, Excel, well control kill sheet, bit hydraulics programs, casing and cementing reports.
R.W. Dirks Engineering Tulia, TX.
9/2001 – 1/2002
Drilling and Completion Consultant
* Completed newly drilled horizontal and vertical wells.
* Reentered P/A'ed wells to test different zones.
* Converted flowing wells to rod pump; set pumping units, rod and pump design, well head conversion, tank battery modifications.
* P/A'ed non-economical and problem wells.
Unidril LP. MWD Co. Houston, TX
1/2001 – 9/2001
Operations Coordinator
* Supervised shop activities, personnel and field operations. Dealt with problems that arose at well sites such as tool failures, tools stuck or lost in hole, personnel and logistics. Ran MWD on problem wells and when needed.
* Assisted in the drilling of HPHT, Short Radius, Multilateral, re-entry and side tracked wells to a depth of 15,000'.
* Trained new personnel on operation of the MWD in the field.
* Worked and coordinated jobs in TX, NM, OK, LA, and WY
Express Oil & Gas Dilley, TX
