Began career as a Field Services Technician working in the Middle East during mid 80’s, and have progressively been promoted to various operations management positions, including Sales Representative, Sales Manager, Assistant Operations Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Field Safety Manager, Sales Consultant, and most recently, Regional Manager of Southeast Asia. Duties and Responsibilities Included:
Energy Personnel International (EPI) is a world leader in the supply of engineering and project management personnel who are available as consultants for specific projects catering to the world petroleum industry. EPI is a division of Cudd Pressure Control, headquartered in Houston, Texas, and a member of the RPC family of companies.
• Responsibilities include managing all aspects of operations for the region of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, The Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
• These responsibilities include all aspects involved in recruiting/placing petroleum and construction industry consultants, including human resources, accounting, logistics, formalities, legalities, relocations, marketing and sales.
• Customer base includes Exxon-Mobil, Santa-Fe Energy Resources, Conoco, Unocal, Chevron, Texaco, BPN, Kondur, and British Petroleum.
Welltekindo Nusantara is Indonesia’s largest national “slickline” service company, with an estimated 60% market share here in Indonesia. Additionally, Welltekindo is the only API authorized manufacturer of wireline tools and equipment in Indonesia.
• Opened new sales offices, conducted field demos, set up/hosted 3 national oil show exhibitions at local energy related exhibitions, and arranged technical seminars & presentations for US based principals listed below.
• Products and services represented included Welltek’s own services and in-house manufactured single & double drum wireline units, and basic downhole tools; Kuster downhole gauges; Downhole & Design packoffs, bridge plugs, and tools; Woods Grp. Permanent gauges; Downhole Diagnostic Video Services; Smart Chip slickline technologies; Alpine downhole gauges, drilling equipment and services; and Altec gas lift valves & tools.
• Solicited new product sales and new service contracts.
PT Resources Management Indonesia (RMI) employed me as the Assistant Project Manager for a 10 month, turn-key, pipeline construction contract, awarded to RMI (as subcontractor) by Hyundai Engineering Corporation, for the pipeline construction portion of a geothermal power plant project which is owned and operated by Amoseas Indonesia. Amoseas Indonesia is a joint venture company involving Caltex Pacific Indonesia, Texaco of Texas, and Chevron of California, USA.
• Trained, implemented, and supervised Texaco/Chevron Safe Working Standards/Practices/Policies to a work force (local & foreign) of approximately 1800 men, with no Lost Time Accidents reported through out the extent of the 10 month project, or in other words, no lost time accidents encountered after 2,000,000++ man hours worked.
• Managed all aspects of day-to-day administration. Management of 15 expatriate specialists involved in project, including, but not limited to, scheduling, payroll, formalities, visas, etc.
• I also supervised all day-to-day construction activities, including, but not limited to, remote road construction, pipeline anchor & support construction, flash tank construction, rock muffler construction, supervision of all cement pours, logistics, land clearing, and positioning/welding of 42” pipeline for a geothermal steam gathering network.
• Other responsibilities included acting as Assistant Project Manager, which entailed project security management, and day-to-day liaison between Amoseas, Hyundai, and RMI Management, regarding project revisions, work cooperation planning, and trouble shooting basic project plan implementation problems.
Air Drilling Services, Ltd (Weatherford) employed me as Assistant Manager of Southeast Asia, where I was responsible for managing the territory of Indonesia, in which I controlled all aspects of accounting (payroll, invoicing, etc.), field operations support, equipment maintenance, sales & marketing, logistics, crew scheduling, customer sales & service relations, and legal/formality supervision.
• Also served as assistant to Leo Ringer, VP/Manager – Asia Pacific, in support of other ADS business in Singapore, Thailand, India, and The Philipines.
• Obtained and maintained a 90% market share of the available market, with our key customers being California Energy, Unocal Geothermal, Amoseas (Texaco/Chevron), and Mandala (Magma) Geothermal/Baker Hughes Inteq.
• Invoiced on average US$3,500,000.00 per Month, for seven air drilling packages, over a period of two years, with no customer complaints received through out this period.
• Managed all aspects of administration, formalities, legalities, crew scheduling, and payroll for expatriated consultants/operators, and 72 Indonesian nationals.
Lerindro International first hired me as a Sales Representative, and was promoted to Sales Manager at time of resignation. Responsible for managing the territory of Indonesia, in which I controlled all aspects of marketing & sales for the following USA founded manufacturers and service companies: TD Williamson, Inc. (Products & Services), Porous Media Corp., Daniels Enfab Corp., Tube-Tec (UK), Wheatley-Gaso, Air Drilling Services, Inc., Dailey Petroleum Services, McMurry-Macco , Swaco Solids Control, EMC2 Company, Metrol Technologies (UK), MOTI (France), Weatherford-Enterra, Corroless, Inc., and Texsteam Corporation.
• Sourced, placed, and managed over 35 consultants with Santa-Fe, Maxus, Asamera, Vico, Total, Unocal, and Conoco.
• Hired in 1991 as one of a sixteen man (four expats) sales team. Resigned to work with US principal (Air Drilling, Inc.) in 1996, at which time, being the only expatriate remaining, managing all represented accounts with a sales staff of only five. In doing so, cut operating overhead to 20% of original cost, and increased the company’s annual profit margin by over 300%.
• Achieved and maintained gross sales in excess of US$18 million per year, for five consecutive years.
Pressure Control International employed me as a Field Technician , based in Abu Dhabi, and responsible for assisting operators in all aspects of oilfield service operations for an on-going well stimulation service contract with ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) in the Middle East, and a snubbing contract for Unocal Geothermal Indonesia.
• Responsibilities included assisting in equipment operations, maintenance, crew scheduling, and typical customer/company man field relations associated with oilfield service work.
