q Extensive research was carried out on the topic of "Analysis of micro earthquake data from the Shillong massif". Micro earthquake data were collected and analyzed and possible stress configuration using focal mechanism was also carried out. An effort was also made to investigate several distinctive features based on the Bouger -anomaly map of the area q A special problem was carried out for a period of six months on the topic of "Analysis of Geomagnetic Depth Sounding (GDS) Data from Main Central Thrust (MCT) Area" The purpose of research was to delineate the metallic mineral deposits on the basis of induction arrow pattern observed. An algorithm was also made for determining the position of induction arrows.

During the period a 12 months systematic departmental training attended and consequently gained experience in Nautical Charts Compilations & Automated Cartography System (ACS). Training was also imparted for digitization of nautical Charts for production of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) and other related aspects of Nautical Cartography. The job function also entailed supervising compilations, fair drawings, reprinting and ocean dynamics data analysis. As Officer-in-Charge of Photogrammetric & Remote Sensing Division job involved delineation of coastline from aerial photogrammetry and Satellite Imageries.

q The Job Involved conducting Geophysical Surveys (Electrical & Electromagnetic) for determining the sub-surface structure for ground water basins, estimation of salinity, discharge zones location, mapping promising ground water zones in hard rocks like thick saturated weathered rocks, fractures, fissures, solution cavities etc. Electrical surveys were also carried out to delineate sites for rural & urban water supply schemes of World Bank and its assisted projects like ADP (Agriculture Development Programmes) Site selection for Exploratory Tube wells /Piezometers /open well and artificial recharge sites selection were also a part of the job.
q The Job also involved sometime conducting Conventional Electrical Logging like SP,
SPR & other logging such as GAMMA, NETRON, CALIPER, FLUID, CONDUCTIVITY and TEMPERATURE logging using WELL - MAC logging unit of MALA GEOSCIENCES
q Seismic Refraction surveys, processing and interpretation were also sometime carried out as and when required for exploration of ground water
