I repaired and overhauled all earth moving equipment for this John Deere dealership. My work involved in-workshop repairs to all major components i.e. engine/transmission overhauls, axle rebuilds and major hydraulic repairs. I was also responsible for on site diagnostics to customer equipment as required.

Employed as Senior Mechanic Supervisor.
First in Saudi Arabia and then in Libya.
I managed the workshop in a hands-on operation. I supervised the mechanics in the daily repair of vehicles and equipment for seismic operations. I was responsible for maintaining an on-site operation to a constantly moving workshop in a desert location within very remote areas. I managed stores inventory and maintenance schedules for the equipment used in the seismic operations i.e. caterpillar diesel engines and equipment and Cummins powered equipment including camp generators. In addition, I recruited and trained the local mechanics to work on the operation.

Employed as a Heavy Duty Lead Mechanic – Underground Copper Mine
I repaired scoop trams, trucks and Tamrock drilling equipment. I overhauled major components for all underground mining and drilling equipment i.e. engines, transmissions and final drives. This included Clarke, Wagner and Caterpillar mobile equipment.

I ran the workshop operation which involved overhauling the Parker Crusher and maintaining the support equipment i.e. Caterpillar loading shovels, Tamrock and Airtrack drills and pumps.
I supervised the workshop and the training of a staff of local mechanics in a hands-on operation to ensure the maintenance and smooth running of the equipment for the Songea Makumbaku highway operation. In addition, I was responsible for all repairs and maintenance to all camp generators and equipment in a difficult environment. This work involved training local labor with limited resources in a very remote location. Use of initiative, improvisation and self-motivation was a major aspect of this contract.

The company had ongoing jobs in several countries, Iraq, Jordan, Nigeria, Abu Dhabi and Trinidad. Initially, I was sent to Iraq to set up a workshop for a new contract 50-km south of Baghdad. This included installing on site camp generators and setting up the workshop and parts department. I was responsible for mobilizing equipment as it arrived on site after being shipped from the U.K. When the operation was mobile, I ran the workshop on a day to day basis and managed the stores inventory of parts. In addition, I provided the training and supervision of the local staff of mechanics. Later on, I traveled extensively to other countries to implement efficient and economical workshop practices for those operations.

I was employed at Jubail on a harbor project as a Field Service Mechanic.
I had to complete on site repairs to all heavy-duty equipment i.e. mobile cranes, caterpillar earth moving equipment and stationary equipment consisting of mobile batching plants, generators and air compressors.
