1978 to 1982 Alexander's Lewis Motors Stornoway

Apprentice Motor Mechanic.

1982 to 1985 Lasalle Petroleum Services

Mechanic on production crews during shut downs.
Main duties included changing out valves and pipe work.
My reason for leaving this position was due to the contract ending for the job.

1985 to 1989 Lewis Offshore Fabrication Yard
Stornoway

Platters helper assisting platters prepare steel for fabrication. Due to the closure of the yard, I was forced to seek alternative employment.

1989 to 1990 AOC International

Mechanical Technician replacing pressure relief valves on well heads.
I was hired for the short term contract in order to complete the project and after this I had the opportunity to start in self employment.

1990 to 2000 Self Employed diver

My duties included mooring installation and retrieval, sea bed surveys and construction work for clients including BP, Scottish water, Harbour Commissions and the Local Council.
In 2001, North Wind Diving Company offered more regular employment than that of a self employed diver.

2001 to 2003 North Wind Diving Company

Shell fish diving.
I moved to Uist Builders in 2001 due to inconsistent markets and poor weather

2003 to Present Uist Building Company

General Operative. My duties include scaffolding, steel fixing, concrete finishing and general groundwork.
