PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2004-Present Senior Geologist, DuPont CRG/URS Corporation; USA
* Involved in managing environmental and remediation liabilities at former DuPont ammunition manufacturing and testing site; Supervised, sampled, and conducted delineation of metals, PAHs, and PCBs impacted sediments/soils at this RCRA Corrective Action site; Low flow groundwater sampling using peristaltic, submersible, and micropurge bladder pumps; Hollow auger stem drilling, soil logging, and collected split spoon samples; soil and groundwater data evaluation and analysis; Prepared technical reports; Supervised EM 61 geophysical surveys and UXO verification activities.
* Performed site characterization for a RCRA industrial facility that also met the definition of an "Establishment" under the CTDEP "Transfer Act." Investigated 22 areas of concern (AOC) for VOCs, metals and ETPH. Also investigated dissolved phase chlorinated solvent plume associated with the interbedded stratified glacial drift deposits and bedrock unit beneath the site and off-site. Also conducted soil gas sampling using SUMMA canisters as per USEPA and ASTM soil gas sampling protocol.
* Provided technical support to waste (Hazardous, Regulated, Universal, etc.) management team. Responsibilities included record keeping, inspection of storage containers and areas, coordinating waste removal for off-site disposal.
* Completed site characterization and remediation of lead shot impacted sediments at a former trap and skeet shooting Gun Club located on the Connecticut shore of Long Island Sound. Delineated the vertical and lateral extent of the impact per 1,000 lead shots per cubic meter clean-up criteria that resulted in the excavation and off-site disposal of lead contaminated sediments.
2003-04 Project Geologist, HRP Associates, Inc; USA
* Completed Transaction and Preliminary Environmental Site Screenings, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Phase II/III Subsurface Investigations and Remediation in accordance with ASTM standards and the Connecticut "Transfer Act" to evaluate the potential for contamination of site soil, ground water and surface water resulting from site operations, use and conditions. Conducted soil and groundwater investigation of sites impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons, heavy metals, and pesticides releases from leaking underground storage tanks (LUSTs), illegal & historic landfills, and historic pesticide use at orchards& agricultural farm lands, respectively.
* Installed test pits, test borings, and overburden monitoring wells. Described subsurface materials. Collected and sampled soil and groundwater to determine degree of contamination.
* Performed soil and groundwater data evaluation to delineate contaminated areas; Performed ground water monitoring to achieve compliance and post-remediation objectives as per applicable regulations; Prepared technical reports and proposals; Corresponded with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
2000-02 Environmental Engineer, Groundwater & Environmental Services; USA
* Supervised operation and maintenance of soil and groundwater remedial systems at 14 Exxon Mobil hydrocarbon impacted gas stations; Performed remedial system design, installation, evaluation, and performance optimization; Conducted Total Phase Recovery using vacuum trucks, GAC change-outs, and supervised remediation system trench construction; Prepared work orders, tracked systems, and calculated mass removal rates. Also performed product (LNAPL) bail-down test, and planned boring locations.
* Evaluated and selected innovative remedial alternatives for hydrocarbon impacted soil and groundwater; Prepared technical and engineering reports (RAP/CAP, RIP, I&M, and DMR); Reviewed and evaluated Public water supply systems feasibility reports; Conceptually planned and designed public water supply system.
* Conducted and wrote Transaction Screen and Phase I ESA reports in accordance with ASTM Standard E 1528-00 and E 1527-00, respectively for undeveloped, residential, and commercial properties; Conducted Phase II & III ESA projects; Supervised field contractors for ORC® injection using a Geoprobe rig to bioremediate a No. 2 fuel oil impacted site; Gauged, purged, and sampled groundwater monitoring wells. Prepared groundwater contour maps.
1998-00 Masters/Research Fellow/Intern, Lenox Institute of Water Technology; USA
* Developed conceptual plans and design for water and wastewater treatment plants.
* Completed wastewater/water research and laboratory treatability studies.
* Translated treatability data into design parameters and sized distribution equipments and piping.
1994-98 Geologist, Battle Mountain Gold Limited; Ghana
* Coordinated and implemented environmental guidelines for gold exploration program.
* Performed and planned subsurface investigation activities for gold exploration; Planned trench and drill holes locations based on geo-chemical and –physical (EM, VLF) anomalies and supervised borings/drill holes installations using a variety of drilling technologies to determine the persistence of auriferous zones with depth; Sampled and logged drill core; Interpreted complex subsurface geology, structural geology, stratigraphy, and cross-sections of borings to verify the significance of structural control on auriferous zones and utilized a variety of software programs for analyzing and presenting data; Conducted preliminary field reconnaissance that included geological mapping, stream sediment, soil, rock, and trench channel sampling and logging; Prepared technical reports.
