Objective
To join an organization where management skills and experience can be exercised to provide leadership in the areas of design, construction and plant maintenance utilizing my training and 25 years of experience to improve the firm's long term viability as a successful business concern.
Experience
I am a pipe fitter by trade. I gained my experience in Houston, TX while employed by Brown & Root, Inc. I worked for Petro Chem. Division at Shell in Deer Park during construction and the start up phase of the project. I then went to Industrial Civil Division where I basically worked shutdown and turnaround jobs in the following plants:
Arco on Sheldon Rd., Arco Refinery, Stauffer in Houston and Baytown, Exxon refinery, Air Products, Union Carbide, Ethyl, Champion Paper, Portland Cement, Diamond Shamrock, Oxarene. Brown & Root Marine yard where we piped and set equipment on drilling and production platforms.
I moved to Taylor in 1981 where an oil field fluids company employed me as a mud engineer. When the oil industry went bad I went back to construction work.
In 1983 I worked for Brown and Root at Ethyl Magnolia on a unit start up, was hired by Ethyl in March of 1983 where I was promoted to crew leader 10 months after I started working for them.
I have received formal training in all aspects of plant operation, mechanical and operational.

Maintenance Team lead/Supervisor
- Supervised two plant sites directing 2 crew leaders, 1 planner/scheduler, 10-20 multi-craft mechanics and as many as 50 contractors during peak periods.
- Key focus was to maintain plant and facilities, services and to provide resources to meet department's long and short-term goals.
- Accountabilities included service factor, control and reduction of repair cost, safety and environmental compliance, employee performance and satisfaction, as well as labor costs and productivity.
- Responsibilities included the planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities while supervising, coaching, training and evaluating employees and contractors.
- Other responsibilities included evaluating and managing equipment and manpower cost, providing preventative and predictive technical support and overseeing and managing capital projects. Design and installation of new equipment.
- Planning and execution of shutdowns with primary focus on safety, cost effectiveness and timely execution. (Normally 15-25 shutdowns per year)
Interim Maintenance Superintendent
- Managing 4 supervisor/crew leaders, 2 planner/schedulers and 20-30 multi-craft mechanics daily and as many as 50-75 contractors during peak.
- Responsibilities included budgeting and cost control of all maintenance activities in Albemarle's Magnolia fire-retardant facilities.
- Managing subordinate's productivity, skill sets and most importantly their awareness to safety was performed daily.
Complex Maintenance Coordinator (Special Assignment)
- Responsibilities included all maintenance supervisory functions in an existing operating unit and served as a maintenance/mechanical advisor on a special assignment design team to develop Albemarle's first continuous process fire retardant facility (CP 2000). In this role I assisted design engineering in proper installation and MOC for new equipment we had tested and found suited for the new process.
Complex Maintenance Coordinator
- Responsibilities as a Crew leader in TBBPA process area included long and short term planning and the execution of daily maintenance requirements.
During this tenure, job requirements extended into executing numerous projects with Baton Rouge engineering department to increase capacity of the unit from 20MM pounds per year to 85MM pounds per year output while maintaining daily activities. We upgraded materials of construction to meet increased capacity to increase MTBF.
* Responsibilities of supervisor were increased to all fire retardant plants (8 units) due to reorganization of staff (IMPACT in 1995).
* I was the only maintenance supervision to remain in the fire retardants units. Acted with operations supervision to maintain day to day activities in all units.
Crew leader
- Job requirements included directing crew activities, planning and scheduling work and interfacing with operations to maximize efforts and productivity in an agricultural intermediates facility.
* Mechanical design and MOC
* Equipment design(upgrade) and MOC
- Responsibilities also included setting up all equipment files and equipment PM programs.
Maintenance Mechanic
* Job requirements included the duties of a multi-craft mechanic with emphasis on pipe fitting, millwright and rigging skills.
* Fabrication and installation of all types of piping systems. (Lined polypro, kynar, PTFE and Saran, titanium, all hastalloy¡¦s, all types S.S. and FRP socket and butt wrap).
* Operation and maintenance of heat exchangers (all types and materials of construction)
* Knowledgeable in operation of packed and tray type stripper columns.

- Pipefitting and general maintenance assigned to the startup of a new plant. Job performance gained employment with Ethyl.
