1997 Dec to Till now: Total Abk offshore oil and gas platform

Present position: Instrument Technician.
TOTAL ABK Offshore ABUDHABI

Joined TOTAL ABK offshore platform as Instrument Technician in 1997 through Ipedex Agency.

Plant: The Total ABK Offshore platform complex has both Oil and Gas treatment plants. The oil from the wellheads is separated in LP and HP 3-phase separators, desulphurised and exported to onshore through pipelines. The associated gas is compressed by 3 gas turbine driven compressors and is injected back to the wells for gas-lift of oil.
Gas produced in the 9 gas wellheads are dehydrated and desulpurised by the Glycol and MEA units respectively and sent to onshore for LNG production.
The utilities plant have the water treatment, power generation, diesel engine driven emergency power generators and fire water pumps and associated electro chlorination units etc.

Activities:
* Performing the day-to-day maintenance activities of the oil and gas plants in coordination with DCS Technicians and Sr technicians.
* Preparation of shutdown jobs.
* Scheduling of Preventive maintenance Spares management and time management using SAP system, work permits preparation, coordinating with production personnel.
* Suggestion and implementation of RFMs (Request For Modifications) for the better operation and safety of the operating plants as and when required.
* Liaison with onshore for project and modification activities.
* Assist Safety personnel to carry out periodic tests on the Fire and Gas, deluge system, including the Gas detectors, flame and smoke sensors etc.
* Assistance to DCS technicians for troubleshooting Honeywell DCS and Triconex safety system problems like cable failure, upgrading the old controllers to latest controllers etc
* Assistance during Modernisation of Glycol system from Pneumatic to Triconex PLC.
* Routine and Shutdown maintenance of Rolls Royce RB 211 gas generator and Thermodyne compressors. The GG is controlled by the Entronic control system and the Vibration monitoring is of Bentley Nevada.
* Trouble shooting and maintenance of Wellhead control panels of Baker CAC, OTIS and Autocon.
* Carrying out EC and RFM jobs like modification of ESD system in Hydraulic panels at wellheads.
* Assistance to Production personnel for trouble shooting and solving the process related problems.

During this period I have worked as a SENIOR INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN in Bells controls limited at Madras Fertilizers Limited in the Revamp project at their Ammonia and Urea Plants.
Instrumentation: Smart Transmitters, Masoneilon and Fisher leveltrols etc. Masoneilon, Fisher, Honeywell Yamatech control valves

Activities:

* Calibration,loop-checking,commissioning of field equipments & control system.
* Preparing documents required for loop checking, planning man power allocations,updating the commissioning documents etc.

22 Mar 96 - 25 June 96
During this period I have worked in CEGELEC - ABUDHABI, as a Instrument Technician at FERTILE - RUWAIS and SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT.

Activities:

* Dismantling/Servicing the various type of field instruments such as Level Trolls/LevelSwitches/Transmitters/ControlValves/and all type of actuator Hydraulic and Pneumatic, EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN VALVES.
