I am a safety professional recently assigned to a project in Muscat, Oman for BG Group; my objective in sending this CV and cover note is to highlight my ambition to continue to work and learn in an international work environment as a safety professional.

I have worked in the oil & gas drilling industry for over 19 years and possess a unique blend of experience and knowledge of how the industry works. I have worked in drilling coming up from Roustabout level to Assistant Driller until I moved into safety full time in early 2000. With almost 8 years experience in a full time safety role I consider myself to be an asset for any company and conduct my role in a professional manner; I feel I am a resource in any offshore or onshore environment, providing guidance not only to management but also to the work force and can provide solutions to many problems that are faced by personnel in the industry every day.

I am an outgoing and hands on type person; I have made myself approachable at every location I have worked in and encourage interaction from all personnel I work with, this I feel is very important. I have excellent verbal & written communication skills as well as presentation skills and have a very high standard of computer knowledge & literacy.

I strongly believe that safety is about effective planning of tasks, involving good communication between all parties resulting in overall efficiency and a direct reduction of incidents and downtime.

I have great enthusiasm and knowledge for issues relating to the environment and how the industry interacts with it; I will be attending a 5 day ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Course in early 2008, I have recently completed a 5 day ISO 9000:2000 Series IRCA Lead Auditor Course in the UK. I am also working towards full MIOSH by studying for a recognised HSE NVQ4 qualification at this present time. I have worked recently supporting areas such as Permit to Work, Risk Assessment, Confined Space, LOLER, COSHH, Working at Height, Key Performance & Lagging Indicators and promoting the awareness of MARPOL & SOLAS requirements through my own yearly subscription from the IMO website.

I have a full personal training program to fulfill over the next 18 months that will raise my technical knowledge and demonstrate my commitment as a safety professional in this increasingly demanding work environment.

I hope this information will be beneficial and certainly look forward to answering any questions you may have.
