Enterprise Business Continuity Consultant – Ameren

Served as the enterprise Business Continuity Consultant for a large electric and natural gas utility operating in Missouri and Illinois. Task was to re-energize their Business Continuity Program. Initial contract was for 6 months however was extended for 2.5 years. Overall objective was to implement a pragmatic, schedule driven Business Continuity Program.

* Established a sound methodology for completing the Business Impact Analysis (BIA)
- Developed standard processes (repeatable, measurable, and consistent)
- Focused on critical factors (business processes, personnel, and required applications)
- Identified potential recovery strategies
- Developed integrated plans for Work Area Recovery, Work Stoppage and Pandemics
- Conducted gap analysis - worked through various business lines for their resolution.
- Established a Work Area Recovery (WAR) Catalog which indexed/earmarked available facilities, their floor space and bandwidth. Supplemented this with a matrix to identify what recovery strategies were employed by each business line, their deployment timeline.
- Established Key Readiness Indicators as well as Testing and Evaluation for each Business Line as well as Employee Readiness Survey for each individual.
- Developed a "Hot Site" for the four most critical operations within the enterprise.
- 93 BIAs completed, 34 Business Continuity (BC) Plans produced and 18 BC Business SharePoint sites established.

* Developed an Enterprise Incident Command Team (ICT)
- Hot washed recent Company disasters and used as "lessons learned" to develop a comprehensive ICT (Praxair Chemical Explosion, Breach of Taum Sauk Dam, Storm of the Century, Data Center Outage)
- Established a core team of senior representatives that would provide corporate direction (security, building services/facilities, IT Operations, Network Operations Center (NOC), Energy Delivery)
- Modeled team after the National Incident Management (NIMS) Incident Command Structure (ICS)
- Determined types of incidents/situations that would mobilize/deploy team.
- Flow charted team actions, developed processes, teams, checklists and crisis communications plan.
- Developed low cost /no cost Emergency Operations Center (EOC) utilizing available resources.
- Conducted plan walk through and table top exercises.
- SharePoint sites established for Incident Command Team and Business Continuity Program

* Assisted in coordination of Pandemics Planning:
