I am a competent Instrument Technician with 8 years on the job experience. I consider myself to be honest and reliable and am a firm believer in continual personal development. In addition to this I believe myself to be focused, assertive, ambitious and flexible in respect to work. I enjoy working as part of a team and have the ability to reason quickly and accurately on demand handling complex situations whilst staying calm. I must also add I have great respect for safety, health and the environment and shall not jeopardise these in anyway.

Employment History
Oct 2006 – Present Instrument Technician, PFM
I am currently employed by Petrofac on the GP3 FPSO. I work as part of a small team who carry out all the platform Instrument and Telecoms maintenance. The vessel is just out of refurbishment and I have been involved in carrying out the commissioning side of all new process/marine instrumentation and F+G systems whilst maintaining all the existing equipment such as various control loops, marine systems, valves, transmitters and other electronic and pneumatic instrument systems. In addition to this I have gained more experience on fault finding and working with telecoms and Ethernet systems whilst also carrying out electrical work such as cable running, glanding, terminating, isolations and fault finding. Whilst here I have worked on two types of DCS systems, the Silvertech process DCS and the Alstom marine DCS system.
Feb 2005 – Oct 2006 Instrument/Analyser Technician, Wood Group
Worked on Shell's Brent Bravo platform in the North Sea, as an instrument/analyser maintenance technician, my daily tasks include fault finding, installation and maintenance of all instrument equipment on site, this includes flow, level, temperature and pressure calibrations, integration with the sites PLC and DCS (TDC3000) systems and also daily checks and maintenance on the site fire and gas systems. Also work in the commissioning of new instrumentation as per site upgrades. Brief analyser work was carried out on instruments such as ph, conductivity and laboratory work.
Aug 2004 – Jan 2005 Instrument/Electrical Technician, Petrofac
Employed as an Instrument/Electrical Maintenance Technician on the Balmoral FPV, I worked as part of a small team carrying out routine calibrations, daily maintenance on the fire and gas systems, PPM checks and fiscal metering tests. I also maintained the platform's SCADA (CITECT) and PLC (GEM80) systems as required. As this position was on an FPV it gave me first hand experience on working in a semi-submersible platform and it's associated instrumentation i.e. windlass systems, positioning systems.
Aug 2000 - Aug 2004 Trainee Instrument/Analyser Technician, Exxomobil
Whilst working at Fife Ethylene Plant I was trained as an Instrumentation Technician, working with and learning from a large team who are responsible for plant maintenance. Here I achieved my SVQ 3 in engineering maintenance, which has ranged from basic training to interrogating complex instrument and analyser systems. My training has covered many aspects of the job including faultfinding and calibration of various instrument and analyser systems. Analyser experience ranged from GC's, PH, Conductivity, moisture, Infra- Red gas analysers, laboratory work and various other gas analysers i.e. o2/nox and sox checks. Through my enthusiasm and progression I earned Exxonmobil's Apprentice of the Year in 2004.
Jan 1999 - Aug 2000 Electrical Technician, Babcock Rosyth Dockyard
Employed as an Electrical apprentice at Rosyth Royal Dockyard, I achieved an SVQ 2 in Electrical Engineering Maintenance. Tasks included were faultfinding and installation of electrical circuits. Once I gained my SVQ 2, I moved on to Lovat's Catering Services to complete my apprenticeship. I left this apprenticeship to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry.
Hobbies and Interests
Play regular football for current employer's football team and am a member of a local training gym. I also enjoy swimming, playing golf, reading and working on cars.

I am competent at basic applications such as spreadsheets, databases and word processing. I also use Lotus Notes, Intools and SAP regularly.
