Became increasingly required by Willich's customers. Basically an Insulation contractor, scaffolding was not a priority, prior to this. Willich directors decided to create a Scaffolding Division to which I was promoted to manager.
Main Responsibilities.
Establish Scaffolding yard. Division Office.
Establish. Material, Transport, Manpower systems of control.
Establish. Scaffolding Training System. Supervision for all Projects.
Develop. Costing / Charging system to Insulation Division.
Develop HSE plan for Scaffolding works. Safe Working Practices and Method Statement.
Hazard Analysis
Later. Estimate Profitable but competitive rates / terms / conditions to bid for Scaffolding Projects outside of Willich.
After 2 years Willich had a well established and competitive. British Standard Scaffolding Division.

Scaffolding Superintendent. March 1995 to November 1995.

Recruited from Cape East as project was nearing completion.
Responsibilities.
Basically to take responsibility of scaffolding works within Willich.
Primarily to oversee project at Thai Oil refinery,HCU.unit. Shutdown & Revamp.
Review works schedule issued by Thai Oil. Coordinate with Thai Oil supervision to create priority list for scaffolding works. Issue work schedules to foremen for each area. Ensure adequate materials / manpower available on site as required.
Select subject for daily Tool Box talk by Site Safety Officer. Regarding the day's operations or problems the day before.
Ensure Scaffolding inspections are carried out as regulations, and that Scaffolding Register is updated daily.
Priority. Ensure scaffolding works not responsible for delayed start-up

Additional Work. Requested by Thai Oil to erect scaffolding to re-paint company Logo Sign at Thai Oil refinery entrance, across duel carriageway, without disrupting traffic. Design and method my responsibility. (Completed successfully).

Esso Oil Refinery. Major expansion. Managing Contractor. Foster Wheeler.
First time British Standard scaffolding introduced to Thailand. Local labor recruited, had no previous experience of scaffolding. Foremen where hired on their English language ability.

Responsibilities.
Area Supervisor. Responsible for existing Live Plant and Off sites, including Tank Farm, Pipe Racks and Jetty.
On the job training of local employees. (Thai)
Coordination with Esso supervision to ensure scaffolding works completed, to reach milestones issued by Foster Wheeler. Live Plant had to be ready for Shutdown and Tie-in.
Also, to include scaffolding for regular maintenance on Live Plant.
Select employees as charge hands and create scaffolding squads.
Request Work Permits to be issued by Esso for following day's work.
Scaffolding Inspection and upkeep of Scaffolding Register for my area.
Evaluate employee's performance and award certificates as Basic or Advanced scaffolders.
All other requirements of a Scaffolding Supervisor.
