Rig Electrician ON AND OFFSHORE ON THE FPSO ORCA,PRIDE, PETRO SA,
2 I WAS INVOLVED WITH THE RENOVATION AND RENEWING OF THE ORCA RIG IN TABLE BAY HARBOUR, WICH INCLUDED THE INSTALATION OF NEW SOFT STARTER PANELS AND PLC'S FOR THE FRANKLIN SEALIFT PUMPS.
3 WE REPLACED A LOT OF CABLING AND TERMINATION AROUND THE RIG. ALL THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS AT THE PRODUCTION DECK WAS ALLSO REPLACED WITH NEW FLAME PROOF FITTINGS, GLANDS AND CABLES.
4 I WAS ON BOARD THE ORCA ON TOW FROM CAPE TOWN TO MOSSELBAY AND THEN TO THE PUMPING SITE APROX 150 SEAMILES OFFSHORE. I WAS ON BOARD WHEN WE TENSIONED THE ANCHORS AND I HAD TO FIX ONE OF THE DC CONTACTORS WICH ARCED TOGETHER AS WE HAD NO SPARE CONTACTS ON BOARD.
5 FURTHER I HAD TO IMPROVISE PLANS ON A LOT OF SMALL JOBS AS THE ORCA IS VERY OLD AND A LOT OF SPARES FOR IT SIMLY DOES NOT EXIST ANY MORE. I LEARNED A LOT WHILE ON THE ORCA.

MY DAILY DUTIES INCLUDE:

1 TO CHECK ALL PANELS AND SWITHCES FOR FAULTS OR TRIPS AND ALARMS. CHECK IF THE BLOWERS ARE RUNNING ON THE AC AND DC GENERATORS.
2 CHECK THE PANELS IN THE CAISSONS FOR TRIPS AND ALARMS.
3 MONITOR THE FREEZER AND CHILLER TEMPRETURES AND OIL AND FREON LEVELS.
4 REPORTING TO THE CONTROL ROOM TO CHECK ON THE FIRE AND GAS ALARM SYSTEM FOR ANY PROBLEMS OR ALARMS.
5 CHECK ALL LIGHTS AROUND THE ENGINE ROOM, GALLEY, DECK, ACCOMODATION, EMERGENCY FIRE GENERATOR ROOM AND CAISSONS.
6 CHECK THE HEATERS ON ALL NON RUNNING DC MOTORS AND GENERATORS.
7 MAPPING OF VOLT, AMP AND KW. READINGS.
8 REPORT TO THE CHIEF ELECTRICIAN FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTION ON BREAKDOWNS AND AWAITING WORK.
