Roles and responsibilities
* Offshore based and shall report to HSE Coordinator with liasoning functions on day-to-day operations with Construction Superintendent / Supervisor, Master and SSB Site Representative. Implement SMEP and PETRA HSE plans.
* Ensure that at beginning of work, toolbox meeting conducted and at worksite, a pre-job discussion carried out prior to work commencement and conduct regular safety talks covering pertinent topics and will be a secretariat to the site safety meetings and arrange for the distribution of minutes.
* To update the safety statistic and other safety report by daily basis such as ACT records & Man-Hours.
* Responsible for ensuring that all safety related items contained in the permit to system complied with daily activities will include monitoring of all activities to ensure that safe working practices are in place.
* Have the authority to stop work because of any unsafe act and will immediately report any unsafe act and conditions. He will institute follow-up action in both cases to prevent re-occurrence.
* Area of responsibility shall include routine checks on all machinery, equipment and worksites within the jurisdiction of the SMEP Site Representative. To conduct weekly checks on the condition and status of all safety related equipment and documentation
* To track the status PTW and its tracking, enforce the implementation of Minimum Health Medical Standards requirements and instill Hearts and Minds culture to workforce.
* To promote and systematically upgrade the HSE knowledge of the workforce by organizing safety quiz and campaigns. The safety campaigns shall include (a) Finger Injury Prevention, (b) Falling Object Prevention, (c) Safe Lifting Practice etc. The safety campaigns are mandatory programmed he shall be driving at worksites.

Roles and responsibilities; -
-In line with the safety and health requirement of the Bintulu Port Authority, the main duties and responsibilities of the safety Officer are to ensure all personnel comply with Bintulu port Authority's safety requirements and permit to work system.
Also ensure the managements' Health, safety & Environment policy adhered to, advise the contractors' management and supervisor staffs on all aspects of safety as work progresses.
Ensure appropriate safety equipment and fire fighting and emergency facilities are adequate and functional at all times.
