Work Experience

March 2008 – present Self-employed Petroleum Landman

I was employed as an Petroleum Landman in an independent contractor capacity.. My duties included pre-lease clearance, draft clearance, leasing, preparing title spread sheets, mineral ownership reports and performing due diligence on existing leasehold drill sites. All of this experience was in the Barnett shale.
I am experienced with MsWord, Excel and Deed Plotter.

Work Experience

January 2003 – February 2008 Kimball Hill Homes
3010 LBJ Freeway
Suite 1100
Dallas, Texas 75234

QA Inspector

I inspected residential construction beginning with foundation thru completion to insure that all ongoing construction complied with local building codes and safety regulations. This required a solid working knowledge of building codes and OSHA safety standards. For the most part I performed inspections at the same stages of construction that most municipalities would perform their inspections. Such as foundation, frame, plumbing top out, electrical and HVAC rough, trim out, and final inspection prior to obtaining a certificate of occupancy

August 2001 – November 2002 Vintage Homes/Mercedes Homes
11494 Luna Road
Suite 201

Construction Manager

Manage and supervised the construction of custom homes ranging in price from $300,000 to $600,000. My main duties were to supervise construction at all stages. Vintage is a new division of Mercedes Homes specializing only in high end homes. I was responsible for establishing a vendor base that complied with pre-set budget guidelines, dealing directly with home buyers, and vendors providing services and/or materials. I performed all of the scheduling of trades and materials as needed to get each home completed in a timely fashion and within budget guidelines. I also monitored each home to insure that all of the required functions were completed as per quality guidelines, and in full compliance with the current building codes.

March 2000 – July 2001 Lennar Homes of Texas
Construction Manager
12720 Hillcrest Road
Dallas, TX 75230
Construction Manager

I supervised the construction of new residential properties from approximately 3,200 – 4,500
square feet in area with a starting price range of approximately $180,000. My duties begin with grading and site preparation of the building lot through completion of the finished home. It was my responsibility to schedule all of the required trades in a timely fashion so as to stay on a pre-determined schedule for completion of each home on time and within budget guidelines. My workload could be as few as two homes, and up to as many as 18 homes simultaneously. The key factors to performing this job are establishing strong communication with all of the trades and sub-contractors, and having above average abilities in setting and maintaining efficient scheduling. It was not uncommon for my homes to be completed in 65 – 80% of the time allotted.

May 1999 – March 2000 City of Lewisville

1197 West Main Street
Building Inspector Lewisville, TX 75029

Inspection of new residential and commercial construction taking place within the corporate boundaries of the city of Lewisville, TX. This also included improvements made to existing structures. The inspection process included all stages of construction from foundation through completion and issuance of a certificate of occupancy. The primary focus was to insure that all construction conformed to the guidelines of the city, and followed the minimum construction standards as set forth in the Universal Building Code.

June 1997 – April 1999 Cencor
5252 Cherokee Avenue
Suite 100
Alexandria, VA 22312

Regional Quality Assurance Analyst (temporary position)

I began my employment with this firm as one of approximately thirty QA Analysts stationed throughout the United States tasked with monitoring offices of the Immigration & Naturalization Service. I was stationed at the Central Region INS headquarters in Dallas to perform bi-weekly QA audits of the Dallas District office documentation flow. Through my efforts, problem areas were identified, and suggestions made that helped this office successfully pass an audit by the accounting firm of KPMG that they had failed the previous year. I was then promoted to one of three Regional Quality Assurance Analyst positions. I then began conducting no-notice audits at INS offices throughout the central and western United States duplicating my efforts at the Dallas District office. In addition, it was my duty to compile the observations and suggestions of 8 – 10 analysts throughout the central Region and prepare bi-weekly reports of findings to the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. During this time I used all of the different software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite. MsWord for reporting formats, Access for creating databases, Excell for creating analytical tools and spreadsheets, and Power Point for creating flow charts.

August 1990 - May 1997 Lacerte Software Corporation
13155 Noel Road
Suite 2200
Dallas, TX 75240

Technical Support Representative/Assistant Manager QA/Shipping Dept.

I worked in a phone technical support position. It was my job to answer technical questions from the company's software user base regarding software, computer hardware, and network problems. This position required a good working knowledge of over one hundred software products, computer operating systems such as DOS, and all versions of Windows, as well as computer network operating systems. Due to the nature of the software I supported, income tax related, I was required to have a good working knowledge of the IRS tax code, rules and regulations. The most important skill was the ability to analyze problems quickly with a limited amount of information. Then present a workable solution that helped the caller resolve their problem as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The first two years of my employment with Lacerte Software was as an Assistant Manager of the QA/Shipping Dept. I assisted in managing 5-20 personnel performing the everyday duties of the shipping dept., keeping the customer database up to date on a daily basis, maintaining all inventory levels daily, and keeping a constant QA program in place for inventory production and out-going shipments. I was also in charge of the high speed duplication equipment that was used for producing our product inventory. I developed a program for optimizing the use of this equipment during our busiest times to maintain the maximum amount of software to be duplicated and get the most use from all equipment at all times. During our busiest time of the year, November through April, we would ship out approximately 250,000 shipments with the department operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

May 1980 – July 1990 Patrick E. Bailey Land Services
709 South 29th Street
Mt. Vernon, IL 62864

Owner of Business

I owned and operated a diversified land services business, which provided real estate title research services for independent oil & gas producers. I also prepared curative land title documentation as prescribed by land title examining attorneys. I negotiated oil & gas lease terms and conditions as well as compensation agreements for the land owners that would be affected by oil & gas exploration. One of the biggest projects I worked on was for the estate of an Independent Oil Producer in Southern Illinois. At the time of the owners death, he operated approximately 500 producing wells. This individual was named Wildcatter of the year several times by the Illinois Oil & Gas Association. My job was to prepare deeds and assignments for the wife and five children covering producing and non-producing royalty in 21 states and Canada, splitting the interest as per the decedents will. The spouse received 83%, and the five children split 17%. So the documentation was quite extensive. My work was under the supervision of Attorney Craig R. Hedin who I would also use as a personal and professional reference. Overall, the majority of my time working as a Landman was spent performing title research and title opinion documentation.

In addition, I performed residential appraisals for Boatmen's Bank of Mt.Vernon, IL. This bank is now a branch of Bank of America. And I provided residential inspections for a corporate re-location service. During the last two years this business was in operation I returned to college full-time and received my Associates degree in Business Management.
