PRESENT POSITION.OFFSHORE RIG MEDIC,OCCUPATIONAL NURSE.
WHERE: Cabinda/Angola, South Atlantic Ocean , in service of SOS International.
Duties: Responsible for several platforms in B&C area , Rotation 4x4, Primary and occupational Health care and Pharmacology , Trauma/resus and medevac when needed, Routine periodical medical examinations, Hygiene inspections , Health Education talks,First aid training.

PAST WORK HISTORY AND OCCUPATION;

1    TRAINING : WESTVAAL HOSPITAL, SOUTH AFRICA (1966 - 1970)

Obtained qualifications as mentioned above according to curriculum of SA Nursing Council and Chamber of Mines.
Apart from curriculum followed, daily clinical work consisted of:
     Resuscitation of all types of mine accidents and medical conditions.
        Suturing of wounds - minor to extensive severity involving muscle tissue and tendons.
        Application of plaster of Paris as for all types of fractures on limbs.
        Assistant to trauma and general surgery under general anesthesia in theatre.
        Underwater drain insertions.
        Intubations and ventilating.
        Intravenous infusions and maintenance.
        Reduction and setting of minor closed and open fractions.
        Pre-employment and exit medical examinations.
        Primary Health Care, examining, diagnosing and prescribing of medication.

Above duties was performed under supervision and guidance of medical officers employed at the Hospital.

2    MILITARY TRAINING: 1 MILITARY HOSPITAL SOUTH AFRICA (1971)

For a period of 12 months, intensive training in Diagnostic Radiography and obtained sufficient experience in this field.

3    WESKOPPIES HOSPITAL, SOUTH AFRICA (1972)

Basic training in Psychiatric nursing according to curriculum of S A Nursing Council.

6 MARAPONG HOSPITAL ELLISRAS ISCOR COAL MINE, SOUTH AFRICA
    (1979 - 1986)

Responsibilities

        Planned and formulated infra structure and personal of newly build hospital facility. Facility consisted of casualty unit, Theatre, 12 bed ward, Radiography department, Occupational Health Department, pre-employment and Primary Health Care Department.
        Plan facilitate Primary Health Care unit in resident area.
        Function and duties as mentioned in points 4 and 5 above.

        This Unit was 200 km away from the nearest Hospital at that time and there were only 2 General Practitioners in the vicinity. I thus had to rely on myself and my past experience in the handling of trauma and medical resuscitation as well as the general handling of these cases.
        Medical complaints were diagnosed and treated and only severe cases could be referred to the General Practitioner due to distance and the load of work on them.
        The community placed a high demand on my abilities and therefore my skills were developed enormously.

7    MILITARY HOSPITAL PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA (1987 - 1988)

Responsibilities

Nursing and rehabilitation in surgical ward .War injuries.

8    Unitas Hospital (1989 - 1998)

Responsibilities

Theatre technique , rotation between the following theatres: General Surgery, Cardio Thorax, Orthopaedic and Gynaecology.

9    SPATIO CLINIC PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA (1991 - 1992)

Responsibilities ( Managing Director )
The unit was responsible for.
        General nursing of acute and chronic medical cases.
        Rehabilitation of orthopaedic cases.
        Primary Health care.

10    SPATIA CLINIC PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA (TREATMENT CENTRE FOR DEPENDANCY CONDITIONS) 1993 - 1998

Duties and Responsibilities ( Managing Director )

        Management of treatment Centre and correlate team members.
        Establishment of therapeutic team, consisting of: Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Nursing personnel.
        Interaction with medical aids and social departments.

The treatment centre had to close down due to the downscaling of funds from medical aids as regards to dependency.

Spatia and Spatio Clinics mentioned above, were private clinics , owned and ventured by me , for the period of seven years then they were sold.

11    MOZAL CONSTRUCTION SITE (MURRAY & ROBERTS) MOZAMBIQUE FEBRUARY 1998 - MARCH 1999

    Planned and formulated medical infrastructure to new site for construction of Mozal stainless Steel Factory, in Mozambique

    General duties as in par 1 & 4.

    Trauma and casualty duties.

    Occupational health , Trauma duties, Casavac Traumatized and ill Expatriates to South Africa. General duties as in mentioned in par. 1 & 4.

12    WILGERS HOSPITAL , PRETORIA , SOUTH AFRICA :APRIL 1999 -OKTOBER 2001 (population served , average 100,000 people).
This is a Private Hospital in the eastern suburbs of Pretoria serving a community of
150000 people.
It have a very busy Casualty, Handling cases like . Vehicle accidents, Gunshots, Trauma and Medical resuscitations , Domestic accidents, Drowning, ext.
At least average of three full Resuscitations per shift.
