2. Senior GEOPHYSICIST, Schlumberger Geco-Prakla: [Mobile - in
Kuwait, Oman, & UK ]
[Schlumberger Geco-Prakla is involved in all aspects of seismic
surveys. It is a contractor to oil and gas companies world-wide.
Services provided at the front end include: Prospect
identification, survey planning, survey acquisition, final
processing, interpretation, and many supplementary services.]

Primary tasks :
• Acting as an internal and external company consultant.
• Problem solving, able to work independently and in a team,
managing projects.
• Quality control in all aspects of the job.
• Client Liason - Identifying clients needs, offering advice and
solutions.
• Promote image of Schlumberger in the market place, strengthen

3. Senior Geophysicist, Soekor : [ Cape Town, S.Africa ]
[Southern Oil Exploration Corporation (Soekor) at the time managed
all Offshore exploration in Southern Africa. It covered the full
spectrum, from prospect identification, through seismic
exploration, drilling, and, finally, production. It also managed
the licensing rounds for blocks offshore South Africa ]

Primary tasks :
• Managing large projects - Managing resources; people and
computing
• Continuous liaison with clients, as well as contractors.
- the battered middle-man!
[Notes: The 3D surveys done involve careful planning from
conception, evaluation of quality while survey is being acquired,
and continuous monitoring of the processing of the survey. Time
limits are always tight - no room for error, and the final product
has an error tolerance of less than 1%. These surveys, by their
nature, involve immense amounts of information, and use a lot of
resources.]

Experience gained :
• All the tools necessary for managing large projects - Planning
software, accurate reporting, communication skills, resource
management, client/contractor negotiation skills.
• VAX/VMS initially then implementation of large application suites
onto Unix platforms.
• All reports and planning executed with Microsoft applications.

4. Systems Analyst, ESD-South : [Cape Town, S.Africa ]
[ESD-South is involved in R&D of radar systems, for both military
and commercial use.]

Primary tasks :
• Designed and tested simulations of a new radar's effectiveness,
aiding the design process.

Experience gained :
• Developed front-end software for peripherals.
• Planned, Managed and marketed the project
