Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology is a world's reputed University with the largest IT infrastructure.I joined this prestigious organization in April, 2005 as Snr. UNIX Systems Administrator and performing the following duties.
1:- Working within Infrastructure Services UNIX team, in the Corporate's data centres managing 120+ SUN servers.Providing 2nd/3rd level support to the corporate's clients (including university's Portfolios/schools).
2:- Day to day tasks on the Corporate's DNS (bind), Email (Ironport appliance), Proxy(Blue Coat),print(CUPS),backup and web(Apache) servers.
3:- Shell scripting (ksh,awk,sed) to automate day to day tasks.
4:- Reporting the server performance versus load and coordination with team members to ensure the 24x7 availity of the services.
5:- Installation and configuration of different open source and proprietary applications on Corporate's development,testing and production servers (including SUN F-15K, V880, V440, V420, V240, E250, E450)as and when required.

7:- Coordination with team for performing day to day tasks on mass storage devices (SUN 6320 SAN) attached to SUN F-15K,V-880,V-440,V240 servers, SAN attached LUNS/volumes are under VXVM through Brocade (28xx,39xx,41xx) fabric switches with reduandant paths (mpxio).
8:- Installation and configuration of OS solaris9/10 using JET(jumpstart enterprise toolkit )and security patches (using TLP) and integrity tools(tripwire) on testing, development and production servers.
9:- Assist in the backup and recovery of the Corporate's DNS server, Email gateways, Web servers and database servers using flash archives.
10:-Coordination with the team during the evaluation of new software/hardware as and when required.
11:-Live upgrade of Solaris9 to Sol10 using LU (Live upgrade)
12:-Time to time coordination with different groups within the ITS during execution of Project work.
13:-Provided UNIX support on F-15K infrastructure during the SAP migration project from Windows to Solaris9 09/05.
14:-Installing Solaris10 zones, working with ZFS pools and all new Solaris10 features on SUN infrastructure.
15:-Performed the DR(Disaster recovery ) test by shutting down all the Unix infrastructure including F15-K domains and applications and moving them to the other data centre.This test also included deporting the SAN LUN's from hosts in Data centre A and importing these SAN LUNs to hosts in Data centre B successfully.
16:-Successfully installed,configured and tested Solaris Cluster (3.2) for POC(proof of conscept)on Solaris9 with resource group containing IPMP,oracle HA,oracle listener, oracle logical host,etc.
