Schlumberger was approached by the engineers at the San Antonio Water System with the task of using technologies developed for the analysis of hydrocarbon reserves in order to determine the availability and quality of ground water. Due to the broad nature of the project, the computing center, sales, and field engineers had to work closely with the client to acquire the data needed to evaluate the ground water. As a field engineer on this project it was a necessity that I develop a means to deliver quality data in the most efficient manner possible, as well as forming a relationship with the client that would allow for the open flow of data. This project won a "Performed by Schlumberger" Bronze Award in recognition for performance excellence through teamwork, innovation and value creation. In this role I was responsible for the following.
* Development of a logging program and standard operating procedure for the use of hydrocarbon logging tools in order to acquire data for the analysis of water properties
* Development of a technique for using magnetic resonance tools to acquire data in water wells by working directly with the computing center in order to obtain accurate and complete data
* Educated client on the theory of nuclear, magnetic resonance, and induction tools in the applicable portion of the logging program
* Reduced logging time from 24 hours to 6 hours
