Studying part time Masters in Public Health and Tropical Medicine (MPHTM) Comp. 2008 Leading a PMTCT (Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission) project in rural Gabon – Called GAHAP (Gabon AIDS HIV Assistance Programme – www.gahap.com) Irish General Practice locums in 2007 until started practice in Knysna. Professional experience November 2005 to October 2006 Occupational health consultant position with International SOS Most of the work revolved around creation of Health Risk Assessments (HRA) and occupational health management system assessment at various operational sites for International SOS. These were short contracts in various Oil and Gas operational sites in Algeria, Congo and Tunisia. The work involved the creation of basic Occupational Health Management systems from which the company medical advisor was provided with guidance and training from myself as to developing the systems further. Work sites were varied with some offshore assessments of Oil Rigs in the Congo, remote sites in the Algerian and Tunisan desert, and some office assesments in Tunis as well. Health surveillance programs and emergency contigency plans were also an important part of the work. July 1998 to March 2005 - Shell International - Gamba, Gabon, Africa Chief Medical Officer Manage Health Services for Shell in Gabon. ( Budget $ 4 Mil.) Daily general practitioner work in a remote setting, with emergency care as required. Excellent clinical experience in an isolated and rural environment. (Emergency and routine consultations) Excellent tropical medicine experience. Broad Shell occupational health training and experience. Managing Shell occupational health programme with training in HRA and in HSE. Assisted develop the Shell Gabon HIV/AIDS Policy and responsible for its implementation. Manage the vector control programme for Shell Gabon (malaria control) Developed a sustainable health policy for our region. Received 'Ordre de Merit National' medal from Gabonese Government for this work. Excellent experience in medevac of patients from this isolated area. Repeated ALS course (London) in 2001, and (Australia) in 2005. Completed APLS course in Johannesburg July 2003.
