Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The Ohio State University, July 2005-Present
Post Doctorate Researcher. Specialized in computer modeling of Ground Penetrating Radar by using FDTD method. Developed a special code for data processing and visualizations (1-D, 2-D, and 3-D). The modeling algorithm was developed for a heterogeneous half-space medium to facilitate statistical modeling of complex distributions of electrical properties in the subsurface.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock, August 2000 – June 2005
Graduate student research, writing, and assistant teaching. Used applied physics, numerical analysis, laboratory modeling, and field work in development of theories and exploration. Developed and implanted seismic stations in three Arkansas cities. Used ground-penetrating radar to locate leaks in Central Arkansas Water system. Designed simulation and experiment to identify subsurface water on Mars. Developed software to present subsurface materials in 4-D.

Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey, August 1997-July 2000
Research and teaching assistant. Taught classes on open pit mining and in the rock mechanics lab. Guide/counselor/teacher at the topography camp for three summers.

Marble Process Factory, Cubuk-Ankara, Turkey, October 1998 – February 2000
Design engineer. Analyzed processes to determine efficiency. Thesis analysis and investigation of segment wear on disk cutting machines in Ankara andesites.

Hacettepe Mining Society, Summer 1998
DAAD Scholarship received for technical visit to German mines. Evaluated safety procedures and exploration tactics of the German mining and machinery facilities.

3-Dimensional Visual Immersive Environments for Experiments in Science and Engineering, June 2004
IGERT summer project developing software to apply 4-D geophysical analysis to research and test results.

Broadband Seismic Station Development, 2003-2004
Located best cites to test seismic activities within the New Madrid seismic zone throughout Northwest
Arkansas. Three cites chosen and broadband stations installed and then connected to the university via broadband for offsite receipt and analysis of data.

Central Arkansas Water Research Grant, October 2003 – October 2004
Built test bed to develop method of testing known leaks to establish basis of process. Implemented process for water pipes operated by Central Arkansas Water in Argenta region of North Little Rock to find real-life leak that had been causing problems. Detection system is applicable to wider range of uses and properties.

NASA Research Grant, August 2000 – January 2002
Designed and performed laboratory study simulating conditions on Mars to determine presence of water or water-based substances in the subsurface of Mars using Ground Penetrating Radar.

Research Fund No. 99.02.602.003, Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey, 1997
Tested and developed Akdag, Menderes, and Kirsehir granites for use in technology and as industrial abrasives.

Research Grant, Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey, 1997
Used statistical and microscopic investigation of segments after sawing of hard rocks with circular disk to determine density and abrasive qualities of certain substances.
