Objective:
To further specialize in the field of my work and to implement the knowledge and skills gained on the job assigned to the best of my ability.

Career Highlights & Achievements:
- Successfully planned and geosteered about 100 horizontal oil producers, horizontal water injectors and slightly deviated observation wells for three main carbonate reservoirs in Qatif field, Saudi Arabia within 6 years with Saudi Aramco.

- Completed the tar identification and characterization studies and generate the tar distribution maps for two carbonate oil reservoirs, Arab-C and Arab-D reservoirs by integrating the data from core description, pyrolysis (geochemical) analysis from core and while drilling, mudlogging sample descriptions while drilling the well, moveable oil plot, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) log interpretation and RFT/MDT data. In certain areas, as a results of the integration of the tar model generated from the studies and pyrolysis while drilling contributed to the cancelling of the NMR logging which contributed to a significant cost savings for the wells. The tar maps/grids were also used to optimize the water injectors well placement for both reservoirs.

- Being awarded as the best Exploration Organization team of the year in 2004 for the contribution in that particular year to achieve the development increment target of producing 500,000 barrels per day. This is achieved with a lot of constraints in man power, geosteering the wells 24 hours a day, without any 3D seismic to delineate and reduce the structural uncertainties and also without any pilot hole to determine the tar-oil boundary prior to drilling the horizontal wells.

- Built the 2D geological grids using the Z-Map Plus mapping software to map the four Arab reservoirs (Arab-A, B, C and D) with the internal layers (7-11 sub-zones for each reservoir) in Qatif field, Saudi Arabia. This is achieved by incorporating the 3D seismic map and fault interpretation and included all the pseudo point picks projected from the horizontal wells penetration. The project involved the sequence stratigraphic correlation for about 300 wells which penetrated all four reservoirs prior to mapping and specific steps and process in Z-Maps to generate all the 2D geological grids. Provided the updated structural maps/grids for all the top and base with the internal zones to the 3D modeler to use the maps as a framework for building the 3D geological models.

- Involved heavily in the Qatif field Productivity and Injectivity Enhancement project which identified the non performing producers and injectors to be candidates for workover opportunities. Successfully sidetracked the old vertical wells and re-designed the non-performing horizontal water injector wells to be placed 20-25 ft TVD above partial tar level or top of a heavy oil column.

- Leading a team of reservoir geologist, geophysicist, and reservoir engineer in Murphy Oil Corporation first phase exploration drilling program which leads to the first discovery of a few channels sands in offshore East Malaysia. Successfully completed the Field Development Plan (FDP) for West Patricia field development and delivered the first oil for Murphy in Malaysia within a year from the date the field was discovered.

- Exposed to all aspects of geological works while working for Exxon-Mobil for about 10 years from Well Site Geologist, Development/Production Geologist, Reserves Geologist, Log Analyst and Exploration Geologist. Was a Lead Geologist for PM-5 and PM-8 blocks off shore Peninsular Malaysia which consisted of 22 oil and gas fields. Involved heavily with the preparation of the Field Development Plan (FDP) and Commercial Quantity Declaration (CQD) for the commercial fields to be developed and also identified the uneconomical fields to be relinquished back to PETRONAS (Malaysia National Oil Co.) within these two blocks.

- Gained early experience as a Development/Production Geologist in Exxon-Mobil when was in charged of two platforms drilling 80 deviated and five horizontal development wells for Seligi oil field and Jerneh gas field, both in a clastic reservoirs, offshore Malaysia.

- Exposed to all aspects of drilling operations and well site and operations geology while working for EXLOG throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Developed the skills to an expert level in mud logging and pressure evaluation interpretation and well site and operations geology.

Year 2003–2009, present: Saudi Arabian Oil Company – SAUDI ARAMCO
Location: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
Position: 1) Geological Specialist /Principal Development Geologist in Reservoir Characterization Department

- My main responsibility is to ensure that the production of the field that I am currently handling is capable of sustaining oil production of 500,000 barrels per day for the next 20-25 years. To achieve this objective, I am in charged of the geological operations of seven to eight drilling rigs to continue drilling the new wells and maintain potential wells and also to conduct reservoir studies to better understand the field performance geologically.

- Worked as a field/reservoir development geologist for a giant Jurassic carbonate oil field performing well location assessment, wellbore trajectory planning for highly deviated and horizontal wells, developing subsurface well prognosis estimates, determining well requirements, and data acquisition including logs, cores, well tests and other subsurface information. Planned and geosteered about 100 horizontal wells (increment and maintain potential wells) within about five years working for
Aramco, one of the wells was successfully geosteered and completed as the longest horizontal well in Saudi Arabia.

- Being awarded as the best Exploration Organization team of the year in 2004 for the contribution in that particular year to achieve the increment target production of
500,000 barrels of oil per day. The objective of the project was achieved with limited man power to geosteer the wells 24 hours a day and without 3D seismic to delineate the structural uncertainty and no pilot hole allowed to determine the tar-oil boundary prior to drilling the horizontal section.

- Applied the state-of art geosteering technology to land the well at the target entry at the top of the reservoir and also geosteering in the horizontal section inside the reservoir to optimize the well exposure in the good porosity hence maximizing the net-to-gross ratio and oil producton. Using the real-time LWD logs with the full-
suite logs GammaRay / Resistivity /Neutron and Density logs for geosteering the well in the best porosity and azimuthal density images for estimating the bed dip in real time and taking the decision to geosteer the well in the right direction updip or downdip to achieve the completion objectives.

- In several wells, the geochemistry/pyrolysis while drilling technology also implemented to estimate the API gravity and water saturation of the oil section drilled and to determine the present of tar versus heavy oil. This technology usually applied in the water injector wells where the tar mat is present and acts as a barrier to the injection water to reach the updip producer. The wells were geosteered away from this tar mat and to stay above this tar level at all times.

- Worked on the core description and pyrolysis data, NMR log and Mudlogging data to characterize and map the multiple tar layers in the carbonate reservoirs.

- Work on daily basis with LINUX workstations and very familiar with the industry mapping and cross-section software packages such as Landmark OpenWorks and
Strat Works and Z-Map Plus, and other software like Geolog and WellCad.

- Provided support to the Geological Modeling Group by updating the 2D Geological
Grids and incorporating the 3D seismic and fault interpretation using the
Z-MapPlus software for inputting into the 3D geological model and reservoir simulation.

- Involved in training junior geologists on well planning, geosteering wells and
Landmark software familiarization.
