As a Pre-Sales Lead, Azlan led a team of pre-sales specialists in meeting with potential clients in Malaysia, Singapore, and Africa. He was heavily involved in gathering clients' requirements, preparing proposals in respond to RFPs, setting up live demos, and other tasks supporting Sales activities. Potential clients include players in banking, insurance, government, manufacturing, transportation, postal, retail, and media industries.
Azlan was also stationed in Africa for an extended period to understand the data challenges of one major government agency. He led a consultant team to identify all the possible data gaps, and proposed resolutions. The agency has then embarked in a major data integrity exercise to implement the resolutions. DKSH DataCare plays an important part in the exercise.
As an Implementation Lead, Azlan led a team of data consultants implementing Data Quality services to clients. Among the major clients,
* Malaysia media player – provided Data Quality services to identify possible fraudulent subscribers which has given not only revenue leak to the company and giving issues with credit control operations, but also possible misleading revenue reporting.
* Malaysia financial institution – provided Data Quality services to cleanse and re-format certain identified fields in database, which enabled the institution to implement automated systems. And Data Quality services include removing duplicate customers due to merging of multiple different accounts even within the same bank.
* Singapore government agency – provided address cleansing services to make sure all highly-sensitive mailings being delivered to the correct doorstep.
Senior Technical Specialist (2006-2007)
As a Technical Lead, Azlan led a team of system specialists deploying Data Quality solution to DKSH business units. The solution comprises of various modules performing Data Profiling, Data Analysis, Data Quality measurement, Data Restructuring, (Postal) Data Validation, and Data Duplication. The implementation has improved data quality in DKSH SAP system at regional area. It has also supported business consolidation activities whereby the solution was able to identify duplicates records as result of the merging event.

ATD Manager (2003-2006)
As a DSS Group Lead, Azlan managed a technical team in designing & developing Decision Support Systems (eg CATTS – Commonality Analysis Tracking Traceability System, EPASS – Engineering Parametric Analysis System) to ATD (Assembly Technology Development) and HVM (High Volume Manufacturing) global-wide factories. CATTS system is mainly used by factory Quality Reliability engineers to perform lot/unit Traceability during defect containment. It is also used to perform Commonality trend of defects in order to eliminate root cause. EPASS system is mainly used by factory module/equipment engineers to perform offline parametric analysis to product/process/equipment.
As a Level-2 Support Group Lead, Azlan managed vATD (virtual ATD) stakeholder requirements for automated tools needs. He managed the deployment and production support of factory control tools (eg Workstream shopfloor control system, Engineering Processing Order, Work/LotTicketing) to Asia sites – Penang, Kulim, Manila, and Shanghai.
As a People Manager, Azlan managed resource loading, continuously monitored employee performance, and coached towards success of 12 Software/Database Engineers in 3 years period. He was heavily involved to the appraisal of employees under supervision.
Senior Software Engineer (2001-2003)
As a Project Manager cum Technical Leader, Azlan managed/tracked software lifecycle phases and led the development efforts of CRMS (Centralized Recipe Management System) to ATD and HVM global-wide factories. He has exposure to CMMI (Capability Maturity Model) in software development process and standard.
As a Database Developer, Azlan designed, coded, and tested back-tier database programs in Oracle PL/SQL and SQL Server Transact-SQL. He established close technical collaboration of interfacing work with front-tier User Interface asp/com/.Net developers.
As a Data Modeler, Azlan laid out data model for business systems, which include Entity Relationship Diagram, and transformed the logical model into Database objects, using Oracle Designer tools.
In honor to his technical contribution, Azlan presented a technical paper to IMTS (Intel Malaysia Technical Symposium), an event organised to honor top technical innovations for Malaysia site.

As a Data Warehouse owner, Azlan maintained and enhanced an OLAP Data Warehouse system of ASTRO subscibers database and billing system. System was run on Oracle-7, ETL codes were written in PL/SQL, and the front-end interfaces were Oracle Sales Analyzer, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Reports, and ASCII files. He covered all responsibilities in studying any requirement for Data Warehouse system changes, plan for implementation, then execute.
As a People Supervisor, Azlan managed and coached 6 System Analysts in 2 years period.
Database Analyst (1997-1999)
As a Database Analyst, Azlan wrote reports and analyses from ASTRO Subscriber Management System. Reports were scripted using Cognos Powerhouse, PL/SQL, Oracle Reports, and SQL scripts. Generated reports were used by internal customers for various reasons, eg sales reporting, marketing trend analysis, customer service reporting, magazine publishing, etc.
As a System Analyst, Azlan developed client-server applications for internal customers (eg Tape Library, Program Scheduling). He also designed/developed and successfully deployed a backup subsystem to Subscriber Management System for y2k contingency plan.
