* DCS Engg. Activities for Saudi European Petrochemicals Company (IBN ZAHR), Jubail, Saudi Arabia. (From Yokogawa, Singapore) May 2003 ~ Nov 2004.

Project Details: Project involves the replacement of existing Valmet DCS with CS3000 of Yokogawa including the changes of subsystems for MTBE1 and Utilities plants.

System: CS 3000 (Windows 2000 based)
Role: Lead Engineer – DCS Engg.
Responsible for Preparation of Functional Specifications of Complex control loop schemes, Design of the Drive logic schemes of Sequences, Specifications for User Interface Stations, Reporting Functions, Subsystem communication functions with DCS, Interaction with the Client for getting approval of the specifications and implementation of the same in the Yokogawa DCS software and Conducting Factory Acceptance Test of the System.

Exhaustive study of the old Valmet DCS was required to understand the existing configuration to translate and enhance to the new functional requirements of the client.

Individually responsible for preparation of Catofin reactor Sequence, implementation and testing and demonstration of the same and commissioning support. (Licensor – ABB Lummus)

Individually responsible for preparation of Demineralization plant Sequence, implementation and testing and demonstration of the same.

Sequence Flow Charts and Logic charts Yokogawa are the mainly used tools.

- Seven subsystems like ENRAF, XYCOM, SCHNEIDER, GE Mark VI are also part of the job.

* DCS Engg. for 24 MW Captive Power Plant of Godavari Sugars Limited.
System: CS 3000 (Windows NT based)
Role: Lead Engineer – Systems.
Job responsibilities included interaction with customer, analyze the process, Design of the major Control loops of Boiler and Turbine section, prepare functional specifications, project scheduling and other standard workflow procedures of YOKOGAWA like preparing quality records and documentation Getting approval of the specifications, implementation, conducting Factory Acceptance Test and Documentation.
Team Size: 4

* Exaquantum (PIMS) Engineering for Cochin Refineries limited.
The PIMS of YOKOGAWA (Exaquantum) is used to gather Process data from various Process control Systems like DCS, PLC, LIMS and etc., using OPC technology and store huge amount of data for a long time. The data stored is used for Monitoring, Analyzing and Reporting to the Management network in the forms of Reports, Trends and Graphics so that to Monitor the Key Performance Indicators of the Plant time to time, to have Optimization, Quality Planning and Production planning. As the system is useful in Management planning this forms a part of Yokogawa's concept of Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS).

Project Details:
Totally 9 various DCSs including 6 DCSs of Yokogawa, one TDC3000 of Honeywell, one LM PLC of Honeywell and one DCS of Foxboro (The DCSs are located in 8 different control rooms of various plants in the entire refinery complex) have been integrated with Exaquantum Server using Ethernet ( Fibre Optics and Smart Routers are also Used).
Using OPC technology process data from various plants are gathered and stored in Exaquantum server, which uses SQL7 as a database mechanism.
Communication of Honeywell systems were achieved using UPHD software as a OPC server and of Foxboro system through Matrikon OPC server software.

The data Stored is served to Client machines sitting in the Management network.
Client machines have Process graphic monitoring pages, Trending pages, reporting and analysis display pages.

The Graphic pages are developed in the proprietary tool – developed in VB.
The reporting formats were created using MS–Excel Add–ins.
Part of the process data formatting files were created using VB for automation.

I was one among the team of 3 Engineers.

I was responsible for the Engineering at Factory, FAT, commissioning and Site Acceptance Test of the Exaquantum System at Cochin Refineries Site.

System OS: Windows NT server for Exaquantum Server
Windows NT WS for OPC servers
Windows 95,98 & NT for Client machines.

* Integration of DCS with APC system at Bharat Petroleum – Mumbai Refinery's FCCU and ARU plants:

Integration of Centum-XL DCSs of Bharat Petroleum – Mumbai Refinery's FCCU and ARU plants with APC system of AspenTech using ExaOPC package.

Logics for the Process loops involved in Advanced Process Control were implemented in DCS for Data transfer, enabling the Acceptance of Optimum Set point provided by the APC.

Data transfer between DCS and APC system is through OPC.

CENTUM XL is HP- Unix based DCS and the APC machine is WinNT based. Conversion is done at DCS site using Yokogawa's Bus Converter (ABC).

* DCS Engg. for M/S.Bharat Petroleum- Mumbai Refinery's CCU plant and Integration with APC system:
System: CS 3000 ( Windows NT based )
Role: Lead Engineer – DCS Engg.
Responsibilities included interaction with customer, analyze the process, prepare functional specifications, Subsystem communication for PLC and Single loop controllers (SLPC) through MODBUS protocol, project scheduling and other standard workflow procedures of YOKOGAWA like preparing quality records and documentation Getting approval of the specifications, implementation, conducting Factory Acceptance Test, Site Support for OPC connectivity and Documentation.
Team Size: 5.
This job involved the Communication with APC system of AspenTech through ExaOPC package. Logics of Loops involved in APC communication were programmed in DCS.

Communication with Prosafe PLC was also involved.

* Integration of MicroXL DCS with Honeywell's UPHD software for APC:
Integration of MicroXL DCS with Honeywell's UPHD software for APC application at Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers – Methanol plant, Mumbai, using the ExaOPC package and CS1000 system.
Team size – Single.

* DCS Engg. for Nitric Acid plants of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mumbai.
System: CS 3000 ( Windows NT based)
Role: Lead Engineer – DCS Engg.
Responsible for Preparation of Functional Specifications of Control loop schemes, Specifications for User Interface Stations, Subsystem communication functions with DCS, Interaction with the Client for getting approval of the specifications and implementation, Conducting Factory Acceptance Test of the System.
Team Size: 3.

* DCS Engg. for L&T – GCW's 24 MW Captive power plant

Role: Team member – Systems.
Responsible for Generation Simple process logic schemes, developing user interface Graphic pages using Yokogawa's Graphic tool, Testing and involved in Factory Acceptance Test of the System.
Team Size: 15.

* Bharat Petroleum – Refinery's – ARU plant revamp – CentumXL system.
* Bharat Petroleum – Refinery's – Boiler House project - CentumXL system.
* RCF's - Boiler Automation project - CentumXL system.

Most of the systems had communications with PLC, Vibration Monitoring Systems, Multiplexers, Recorders and Single Loop Programmable Controller (SLPC).
