Sept 2003 University of Exeter (Camborne School of Mines) Summer Vacation Project

Unaided 28 day field mapping project covering 25 2 km of the Mountainous Coniston Fells in the Lake District. Mapping of mainly volcanoclastic, sedimentary deposits and Copper mineralisation. Logistically the project was split into 4/5 days wild camping on outcrop with 2/3 days youth hostels based field trips per week. Along with the field data collection also a 10,000-word dissertation, geological map and power point presentation were significant parts of the module.

March 2003 University of Exeter (Camborne School of Mines) Vacation Field Mapping Project Isle of Rum in Scotland's Inner Hebridean Chain.

The study included a detailed analysis of the lithostratigraphy of the island along with many field base mapping and data collection task of the Layered intrusion and sandstone deposits. Also a feasibility study of the use of the chromite and platinum group mineral deposits that may be found on the island.

Nov 2002 University of Exeter (Camborne School of Mines) The Geology of The Wessex Basin (Dorset)
The field course was mostly focused on the potential of the basins major onshore oil reserves of Wytch Farm, Wareham and Kimmeridge and also its regional structural relationships and geohazards and potential land slip and geotechnical instabilities seen along this coast.

Most of my leisure time is spent gliding, at 626 Volunteer Gliding School at RNAS Predannack where I am a senior instructor with five years gliding experience and 1000 instructional lunches. I teach staff and cadets from13 to fly solo in the Viking, getting great enjoyment and satisfaction from their achievements. Along with gliding, I have also completed 25 hour powered flying training in Cessna 152 courtesy of the Royal Air Force Flying Scholarship scheme along with many hours in various other aircraft.
I am a keen sportsman playing rugby from the age of 8 years old I have recently finished playing for Camborne School of Mines, who I played for throughout university and was selected to represent the team as captain in my second year at the school.
I enjoy almost any adventurous sports such as mountaineering, rock climbing, canoeing, abseiling, parachuting and almost anything that may be thrown at me.
