CAREER SUMMARY:
Following seven years with his own business, Simon set out to obtain an academic balance to his years of practical work in the building industry. He enrolled in a four year degree course in Maritime Technology and successfully graduated with First Class Honours. Simon initially joined Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR) as a Naval Architect and then joined the Projects Group as a Project Engineer. He is now an Associate Project Manager within KBR.

DETAIL OF CAREER EXPERIENCE:
ACG: KBR Area Project Engineer: Currently the Project Engineer responsible for delivering Engineering activities for Gas and Water injection platform. Approx 13,500 Te Topsides, 400,000 man hour detailed design. Particular focus is directed towards site interface and construction support. Also delivering detailed engineering for a 'brownfield' gas export compression facility to be offshore installed in four lifts.

ACG - KBR Area Project Engineer: Area Project Engineer responsible for co-ordinating detailed design Engineering activities for the West Azeri Drilling platform to be installed in the Caspian sea. Approx 14,000 Te Topsides, 450,000 man hours. Particular focus was given to the management of the interfaces between the drilling modules (contracted to 3rd party) and the integrated deck.

ACG - KBR Engineering and Procurement Interface Manager: Managed the Interfaces between the KBR Engineering Disciplines and bp managed procurement group. Responsible for defining the purchasing scope and ensuring alignment of procurement and Engineering schedules for equipment and materials. Responsible for ensuring timely delivery of Engineering deliverables for circa 600 Procurement packages for four 14,000 Te Topsides, pipelines to shore and associated Onshore processing plant (circa $1 billion CAPEX). Responsible for a team covering Material control, Discipline Project Engineering and estimating activities.

Also responsible for providing input to, and supporting estimating effort required to develop class 2 estimate for the ACG Project. Co-ordinated the relocation of ACG and Shah Deniz projects (400 persons) to B&R's office facilities in Sutton. Responsible for the direction of a team tasked with installing computer centres, telephone systems, cabling and the fitting out of a 60,000 sq ft office building.

Shell EA: Member of an Interface Team responsible for management of multi contractual Interfaces on the Shell EA FPSO Project. Specific responsibility was to co-ordinate Interfaces between the Hull (contracted by Shell to Samsung Heavy Industries), and the Topsides, (contracted by Shell to Halliburton). The role encompassed establishing the systems and tools required to effectively capture and monitor issues. This involved being based in KBR's Singapore with visits to the Korean shipyard.

Halco 21 (SAP): Responsible for the planning of the conversions of KBR projects to SAP business management system. This involved managing the interface and liaison between the business units and the implementation team. Specific responsibilities included cost estimating, resource scheduling and progress reporting to senior KBR management.

Terra Nova: Member of a team responsible for conducting an audit of the weight engineering, structural modelling and the dynamic and fatigue analyses of the floating production vessel.

Troll Olje Development: Responsible for an investigation into the installation of a large composite material subsea template structure in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. This involved the preparation of a report for the installation covering the crane vessel and template dynamics.

Standardised Floating Production Barge: Member of design team preparing a Brown & Root standard design product to be offered to operators in benign environments. Work involved the investigation of anticipated customers requirements and the development of appropriate designs accordingly.

Cost Information Database: Responsible for producing specification and designing a database for the review and analysis of the parametrics associated with Floating Production structures.

Overall experience includes:
Seven years in the building construction industry followed by four years of academic studies leading to over six years with Brown & Root.
