EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
Bachelors Degree in PETROLEUM ENGINEERING from University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, First Division, 1985.
ASSIGNMENTS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tullow Pakistan (Developments) Ltd.
Presently I am working as Production Manager with Tullow Pakistan (Developments) Ltd. since September, 1999.
After joining the organization, I successfully supervised the project of laying a 42 km long 8” diameter gas pipeline, installation of a 50 MMCFD dehydration plant and surface fittings on two wells . These facilities were commissioned on 9th December, 1999.
Initially my main responsibilities comprised the completion of above project and setting up the production department which included the arrangement of all necessary spares, recruitment and training of the required technical staff, sorting out the gas sales issues with the customer i.e. WAPDA, preparation of data reporting formats, preparation of safety and emergency handling procedures, getting conducted a safety audit of the field facilities and general development of the field i.e. arrangement of housing, office block and other necessary amenities. I understand that I was able to execute all the responsibilities quite successfully.
Presently I have got quite a cohesive, competent, energetic and dedicated team of young multi-disciplined engineers in the field as well as in our Islamabad office and an adequately furnished production facility.
EXPERIENCE:
Tullow (Pakistan Developments) ltd.
a) Supervision of the above mentioned project.
b) Looking after the production operations of the company in the country.
c) Preparation of yearly capex and revex budgets and AFEs’.
d) Representing my department in the joint venture meetings and routine liaison with other partners regarding technical issues.
e) Recruitment and grooming of production staff.
f) Planning and execution of slickline, wireline and workover jobs.
g) Planning and execution of well completion jobs.
h) Routine liaison with the customer i.e. WAPDA regarding technical and fiscal issues.
i) Planning, designing and installation of surface fittings and feederlines of development wells.
j) Occasionally providing technical input regarding international operations of the organization.
k) Preparation of economical development plans for new fields.
l) Preparation of specifications of downhole, wellhead and X-mas tree equipment.
m) Planning, designing and installation of an NFPA-20 compliant fire safety system in the field.
n) Preparation of detailed maintenance and overhauling programs.
o) Liaison with various government departments such as DGPC, DG (Gas), OGRA, Inspectorate of mines, Inspectorate of explosives etc.
p) Remained involved in preparation of contract documents and gas sales agreements.
Concurrent with my routine responsibilities I am currently involved, as Project Manager, in the following projects as well:
a) The planning of enhancement of gas dehydration and transmission facilities, which includes the installation of an additional unit of 50 MMCFD and laying a new 12” diameter 42 km long gas pipeline parallel to the existing 8” gas pipeline.
b) The planning of development of a gas field, which includes an H2S removal unit, a dehydration unit and a 45 km long 14” diameter gas transmission line.
c) Conducting an engineering study for looking into various options of the economical development of a gas field where the gas reserve contain more than 60% CO2.
Most of the planning and design work is being carried out on all the above three projects with our own resources, which is proving to be highly economical.
OMV (Pakistan) Exploration G.m.b.H:
Prior to joining Tullow I served OMV (Pakistan) since January till August, 1999 as Senior Petroleum Engineer. There in addition to my routine responsibilities I remained involved in planning of workovers on two deep hi-temperature wells and also conducted a technical audit of the proposed development plan for Miano Gas Field.
Pakistan Petroleum Limited (Kandkot Gas Field):
Before joining OMV (Pakistan), I was working with Pakistan Petroleum Limited since February, 1987. While leaving PPL, I was posted as Senior Production Engineer at Kandhkot Gas Field which, at that time, comprised four no. Glycol gas dehydration units with gas dehydrating capacity of 290 MMCFD and twenty no. gas producing wells. The dehydration plant was dehydrating 100 MMCFD of natural gas during my stint at Kandhkot Gas Field . During my six years stint on that location I led and managed a team of about 50 personnel to carry out my assignments and responsibilities which included in the routine:
a) Relieving field incharge whenever he was on leave or days-off;
b) Managing all production operations;
c) Assigning duties and responsibilities to sub-ordinate staff;
d) Preparing yearly Capex and Revex budget estimates for the whole field which included production operations as well;
e) Proposing, planning and supervision of all the expansion activities of the field;
f) Planning and supervision of workovers of wells, as and when required, which included preparation of specifications of required material, well killing, running-in of well completions (single as well as dual) and all post completion operations as well;
g) Planning and getting conducted all kinds of slickline work which includes investigative wirelining for identifying various downhole problems and suggesting their remedies;
h) Planning and supervision of BHP, PLT and pressure drop surveys and coordination with service companies;
i) Planning and supervision of assorted production tests such as 4-point Back Pressure Test, 4-Point Modified Isochronal test and Water monitoring tests;
j) Planning, designing and supervision of all remedial jobs such as redressal of tubing hangers, subsurface safety valves and other downhole and wellhead equipment;
k) Ensuring timely procurement of material and spares required for smooth running of production operations and their subsequent inspection regarding their suitability;
EXPERIENCE:
Kandhkot Gas Field:
During my posting at Kandhkot Gas Field from December, 1993 to December, 1998, some of the salient features of my various assignments, in addition to my routine responsibilities, were as under:
a) Supervision of all production operations and maintenance of wellheads and X-mas trees, well safety system (both surface and downhole), corrosion inhibitor injection system, gas gathering system and general well servicing;
b) Supervision of routine workover operations on both single and dual wells;
c) Supervision of dismantling, overhauling and re-commissioning of 100 MMCFD contactor tower and glycol regeneration unit;
d) Supervision of thorough servicing of two no. gas dehydration units, each of 30 MMCFD capacity;
e) Supervision of BHP and PLT survey campaigns, assorted production tests, wirelining and fishing operations;
f) Liaising with top management, regarding all technical and administrative matters of the field while working as incharge;
g) Preparation of specifications for well completion equipment and surface production fittings;
h) Recommending diagnostic steps for surface and subsurface problems and their subsequent execution;
i) Active participation in the safety audit of all the production installations of the field, which was conducted in coordination with a safety audit team deputed by M/s. Kvaerner John Brown Limited. Subsequently I represented PPL in the HAZOP study regarding Kandhkot Gas Field, which was conducted in the London office of the auditors;
j) Designing and laying out of wells feeder lines and recommending and executing modifications in the gas gathering system;
k) Preparation of all kinds of reports regarding production activities;
l) Pre-commissioning inspection of 130 MMCFD dehydration unit;
m) Making all preliminary preparations for installing the 130 MMCFD dehydration unit such as making sure the availability of all the required material of the right specifications.
Pakistan Petroleum Limited
(Sui Gas Field):
I remained posted at Sui Gas Field, from February, 1987 to November, 1993, prior to my posting at Kandhkot Gas Field. This gas field comprised 86 gas wells, at that time, with a gas producing capacity of nearly 800 MMCFD. From time to time, I was assigned various assignments, however my main responsibilities were:
a) Representing production department, at drilling and workover locations, and coordination with drilling in charge during drilling and workover operations, fishing operations, running-in of downhole completions (Baker, Halliburton, Camco), bringing-in of wells, acid jobs, post acid cleaning, wirelining operations and preparation of well completion reports;
b) Designing and supervision of various kinds of online/offline production tests;
c) Analysing well test data and preparation of well testing reports;
d) Planning and supervision of BHP and PLT survey campaigns and coordination with service companies;
e) Diagnosing and rectification of surface and subsurface problems;
f) Maintenance and overhauling of surface and subsurface safety systems;
g) Inspection of downhole and wellhead equipment (CAMERON, NATIONAL, FLOCON, IKS/WKM), prior to installation, to confirm its suitability;
h) Taking charge of production operations in addition to my routine responsibilities where I led a team of 35 workers for the surveillance of 86 wells, maintenance of instrumentation, valves and chemical injection systems at the well sites;
i) Occasionally attending maintenance problems of the 80 MMCFD gas dehydration plant;
j) Routine maintenance of the gas gathering system, which included yearly surveys of the system with ultrasonic thickness flaw detector.
