Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Studies ITB, project and design basis such as scope of work, overall project schedule, basic design data, client specification, client standard drawings that relates to critical lines requiring stress analysis, resolves method of analysis and coordinates this matter with Piping Design Supervisor or its designates for planning purposes.
* Prepares manpower requirement and detailed schedule for the entire stress engineering effort and coordinates or discusses this effort to Piping Design Supervisor or its designates.
* Prepares specification for stress analysis, critical line list requiring stress analysis, mechanical data, loading data calculation, and data sheets for engineered support items.
* Performs calculations using AutoPipe or other stress analysis software taking into account system's operation, process requirement, and other special condition incorporating these requirements in the analysis of various loading conditions such as earthquake, wind, vibration, slug force, hydrotest, steam out, regeneration, icing, and other loading anticipated in the system.
* Analyzes calculation result and proposes alternate routes with Piping Engineer or Designer to resolve stress issues within the piping system.
* Evaluates nozzle loads based on the specified vendor requirement or industry standard such NEMA SM23 for steam turbine and compressor, API standard for tanks, air fin coolers, centrifugal pump, and applicable specification specified in the project.
* Undertakes the selection of standard, special or engineered pipe supports (spring hanger, flexible joint or bellow, sliding plate or strut) and required data sheets for vendor inquiry purposes.
* Performs technical evaluation of vendor quotation, prepares technical correspondence to vendor, and judges or selects technically qualified and most competitive vendor.
* Monitors the progress, productivity, and schedule of the entire stress engineering effort and reports to KP of the project. Coordinates with other members of the piping team.
* Assures the quality and consistency of stress calculation and sketch drawing and maintain the flow of information by assuring the quality of that information at all times.
* Performs other tasks that may be assigned by the Piping Department Manager or its designates.
