Drilling Supervisor

Feb 2002 to Feb 2003 Night Supervisor on Drilling and Workover rigs. Drilling extended reach, unibore, & slim hole wells to MD's of 9,000 - 18000' in an Artic Environment. Drilling High ROP / High - Multiple (Geo steering) angle wells. Grass roots wells and side tracks. Most wells completed in 10 to 20 days. State of the art LWD / MWD tools & mud systems. Rigs are generally two / three module wheeled structures with the drilling module being self propelled on rubber tires. Workover rigs of the same design but purpose built for workovers -- Recompletions / sidetracks / clean outs / fishing / Gas lift.

Drilling HSE (Health, Safety, & Environmental Advisor) Dec 2000 to Feb 2002

Responsible for the HSE on 12 drilling rigs in a 150 mile radius in several fields on the North Slope which included Prudoe Bay, Endicott, Milne Point, North Star, & Trail Blazer. Worked with Coil tubing rigs & rotary drilling rigs in their exploration and developmental drilling operations to identify potential safety problems and prevent incidents. Traction Incident reporting/recording system, Accident Investigations, Rig condition and environmental audits, EMS ISO 140001 (Environmental Management System), & Training. Also worked as a Rig Supervisor filling in on several occasions.

MARATHON OIL COMPANY - Russia and Texas    1990 to Dec 2000
(International integrated oil conglomeration owning pipelines, oil and gas production facilities, refineries, tankers, gasoline stations; ranked as 10th largest oil company.

Drilling Engineer / Supervisor - 1998 to 2000

Project: "Molikpaq", producing and drilling platform in remote and isolated area - Sea of Okhotsk 11 miles offshore Sakhalin Island, Russia. Drilling from wellhead truss; derrick is capable of skidding north-south and east-west to move over 32 available drilling well slots. Completed first phase of drilling program comprised of 14 wells.

Challenged to spearhead directional drilling operations for new, 32 well slot configuration project and supervise staff of 15 to 25. Primary activities entail developing daily drilling program, defining drilling parameters,
conceiving, implementing and supervising drilling, completion, wireline, electric line, MWD, LWD, casing, cementing, fishing and workover operations as well as tracking inventory and costs. Supervised jack-up drilling rig during appraisal phase prior to field development. Interact with Russian nationals.
Platform was producing 90,000 barrels of oil per day while simultaneously drilling new wells. Large volumes of natural gas being produced with the oil, gas was reinjected and oil is transported to FSO which is accomplished through pipe line and SALM systems.

Accomplishments:
Participated in successful launch of major drilling program despite remote location, extremely adverse Artic weather conditions, lack of trained personnel and complicated logistics. Refined drilling process and reduced drilling curve from 35 days per well to 20-25 days and slashed costs from $15 million to $8-$10 million.
Initiated strong training program for Russian staff.
Maintain outstanding safety record.

Drilling Engineer / Senior Supervisor - Tyler, TX - 1996 to 1998

Position was parallel to above but with broader responsibilities on variety of land rigs throughout east Texas, south Texas and Louisiana. Played key role in site preparation, locating water sources, working with land owners, establishing communications and living accommodations, moving rigs and overseeing start-up phases. Directed operations of more than one rig simultaneously (100+ miles apart). Involved in directional, MWD, LWD, mud systems, tubular, casing, cement and fishing operations.

Gained experience in Austin Chalk (Horizontal underbalance and with mud caps), Cotton Valley Lime (high H2S), Travis Peak, Pinnacle Reef (High pressure, deep 18,000'+) and Bossier wells.

Production / Operations Engineer - Bay City and Tyler, TX - 1990 to 1996

For 3 years functioned as Field Engineer (Bay City) in production field office and focused on developing workover programs, increasing production, curtailing costs and preparing budgets. Designed, wrote AFEs, implemented and supervised workovers, completions, and secondary recovery treatments including Matrix Acidizing, Acid and Hydraulic Fracturing. Acquired experience in facilities, pipe line and field gathering systems. Gained proficiency in running Dynamometers and performing technical analysis of results.

Accomplishments:

Initiated program to convert wells from all gas lift to variety of artificial lift methods.
Installed submersible pumps and rod pumps in numerous wells. Selected wells, designed lift methods, constructed power lines, procured equipment and managed project and staff.
Challenged to lower operating costs due to low well production in infamous East Texas Field in Kilgore, Texas. Installed capacitors and controllers and redesigned rod strings to improve efficiency and reduce failure rates.
Took over project to increase field gas production. Initiated hydraulic fracture program which launched a major drilling program with robust hydraulic fracturing for completions. Oversaw fracture treatment designs and supervised fracture treatments. In 2 years production increased by 500%.
