Work Experience

1. May 2006-December 2006
TourPusher/NightPusher
ENI Saudi Arabian Saipem, Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities / Accomplishments a. Worked on Saipem Rig-5889 working for EniREPSA Gas Ltd., Saudi Arabia on their Well Ubaylah-2. This was IDECO-3000 rig with 1050E-500 ton CanRig Top-Drive, 3 x 1600 HP National Mud Pumps (12-P-160), 28″ 2k Diverter, 18-5/8″ 5k, 13-3/8″ 10k & 11″ 10k BOP Stacks. The well was an exploratory well in Rab-ul-Khali Desert with approx, TD 19,500 ft.
b. Worked on Rig SSA-202 for Workover on Qatif-72 & 88. This was National 2000 HP Rig (1320 UE Electrical Drawworks) with Varco 400 ton Top-Drive (VARCO-9S), 2 x 1600 HP National Mud Pumps (12-P-160), 2000 bbl Mud System and 13-5/8″ 5k BOP Stack (Shaffer Annular + Cameron Double Ram & Single Ram). The rig was working for Saudi Aramco. In these wells, window was cut in previous casing and well was re-drilled in new formation.
c. Worked on Rig SSA-101 for drilling & completion of FDHL-609 & 608. The rig specifications were same as above, working in Fadhili Field for drilling of horizontal wells from 13,000 to 18,000 ft. depth range.

My responsibilities are:
* Supervision of operations as per Company Representative instructions
* Handle critical situations like Well-Killing operation, Pipe-Stuck and Well take-over and rescue operation while H2S encounter
* Maintain & update records for Drill-String, Mud Pumps, Drilling Line, BOP etc.
* Conduct BOP Tests
* Prepare Pipe Tallies & calculate Drill String Capacities
* Torque & Drag analysis during drilling & tripping
* Plan and schedule repair/maintenance jobs during running operations
* Supervise Rig-Down and Rig-Up activities while rig-shifting/moving

2. January 2002-May 2006
Drilling Engineer
Mari Gas Company Limited, Pakistan

Responsibilities / Accomplishments
Worked as Drilling Engineer with Mari Gas Company Ltd. Pakistan for more than 4-years. I was involved in various jobs during my association. My main responsibilities were:
* Incharge maintenance/repairing of Company Rig; SkyTop Brewster Trailor Mounted 180,000 lbs capacity Mast, 300 HP Double Drum Drawworks w/ Allison 6 Speed Transmission, OilWell 350-PT & Gardner Denver PZ-7 Mud Pumps, 500 bbl Mud System w/ 650 GPM Max. Shakers flow, Shaffer Annular & Cameron Double Ram 11″ 3k BOP.
* Purchase of equipment & spares for Rig
* Planning, Designing & Preparation of AFE for new wells
* Purchase of material required for drilling of wells e.g. bits, casing, tubing, wellhead, completion accessories, liner hangers and mud chemicals
* Technical and financial evaluation of bids and contractors/suppliers
* Preparation of Drilling Programs & Prepare Well Completion Reports at end of Well
* Supervision of Drilling, Testing & Completion Operations carried-out with either Company Rig or Contractor Rig
* Verification of Contractor Invoices & Calculation of Well Cost

Following are the main Projects I was involved during my association:

1) Worked for up-gradation and replacement of old/obsolete equipment to meet requirements for wells to be drilled. My responsibilities were:
* Recommend and implement updates and modifications
* Maintain inventory of rig and allied equipment spares in warehouse
* Perform routine operational tests of allied equipment (e.g. engines and BOP)
* Maintain records of the rig and drill-string inspection reports and working hours
* Maintain record of mud pumps and engines running hours & Conduct equipment inspection on routine basis
* Overhauling of rig, mud pumps and generator engines and rig transmission
2) Supervised Workover job at Salt Water Disposal Well carried-out by Company (MGCL) SkyTop Brewster Rig to clean well & re-perforate. The operation continued from March 16 to April 01, 2006.
3) Worked as On-site Drilling Engineer/Supervisor for supervision of Drilling, Coring, Casing, Cementation, Coring, Logging, Testing & Completion Operations at Ziarat Exploratory Well-1 spudded on 28 Sept. 2005 and continued till 28th Dec. 2005. It was drilled by Chinese SPA 900 HP Rig. This was a hard-rock deviated well with shallow gas, mud losses, complex well control issues & High H2S concentrations. It provided extensive experience in direction control BHA designing and handling Well Control Situations.
4) I was also involved in planning of Ziarat Exploratory Well-1.
5) Incharge On-site Drilling Operations during Drilling, Casing, Cementing, Coring, Logging, Testing and Completion of Exploratory Well, Mari SML-1, drilled from 16th Feb. to 24th April 2005 by Schlumberger Rig-60 (IDECO-1200 w/ 2 x IDECO 1300 HP Mud Pumps & 13-5/8″ 5k BOP Stack). I was also involved in Planning/Material Assessment of same well. My assignments were:
* Preparation of Purchase documents from location preparation to drilling, casing, cementing, coring, logging, testing and completion of well
* Preparation of Drilling Program for the well
* Designing of Casing Program, selection of bits, recommendation of Mud Program, technical recommendation of Packers and Wellhead
* Supervision of on-site drilling, casing, cementing, coring, logging, MDT, DST, stimulation and completion operations
* Preparation of final well report and cost consumed
6) Worked as Night Company Man on Mari Deep-12, drilled by OGEC Krakow IRI-1700 Rig (IDECO-1700 w/ 2 x IDECO 1700 HP Mud Pumps & 21-3/4″ 5k & 13-5/8″ 10k BOP Stacks) from January to April 2004. My duties were:
* Supervision of on-site operations
* Preparation of final well report and cost consumed
7) Worked as Shift Engineer/Night Pusher for the drilling of 17 gas wells using Company's SkyTop Brewster Rig from December 2002 to June 2003. It was an extensive exposure to the designing, drilling and problem solving. It was also a hands-on experience on the equipment used. My duties were:
* Supervision of rig mobilization and erection operations
* Supervision of on-site drilling, casing, cementing, logging, and completion operations
* Maintain record for the spares consumed
* Hydraulics Calculations, Ton-Mile Calculations & Preparation of Kill-Sheets
* Verification of Cement Calculations
* Supervision of well-killing/bull-heading operation on Well 76
* Supervision of fishing operations with wash-pipes, jars and overshots at Well 86.
* It also provided me the experience to operate drilling brake, casing and tubing tongs and BOP Control Unit.

Miscellaneous Assignments:
8) Supervision of Well Deliverability Testing and Collection of Downhole Sampling for PVT Analysis on six Mari Deep Wells Conducted by CNLC using Three Phase Separator from Nov. to Dec. 2003.
9) Attached with the Pipeline Department from July to Nov. 2003 for the laying of 160,000 ft. pipeline to connect the wells drilled in the Phase-IV Project to the existing network. My duties were supervision of:
* Handling and transportation of line-pipes
* Sand-blasting, rapping and coating of pipeline
* On-site implementation of welding procedures as per API standards 1104
* Hydro-Testing of pipelines
* Installation of wellhead and junction fittings
10) Supervised Acid Stimulation jobs at 17 gas wells, conducted by the Schlumberger Oilfield Services carried-out during July 2003.
11) I also worked with the Production Department from January 2002 to December 2002 for the maintenance and smooth functioning of 84 gas producing wells and their metering.
* During my association with the Production Department I was involved in the designing of optimum tubing size (nodal analysis), well-site facilities (gas dehydration and metering), and acid stimulation job for the Phase-IV wells.
* Supervised Well Intervention Operations with slick-line including RIH downhole memory gauges, blanking plugs, gauge cutters etc.
* Three well-site test compressors were also installed to study the optimum reservoir depletion to maintain the minimum pressure required for sale at the central manifold.
* It also provided the opportunity to conduct and analyze Pressure Build-up Test, Pressure Drawdwn Test and Back-Pressure Test.
* As a part of production operations, I also observed practices of internal and external corrosion of Downhole tubules and Pipeline network which includes cathodic protection, inhibitor injection, coupon observation, iron count, holiday detection and ER-probe reading.

3. June 1999 – August 1999
Intern, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL),
Transmission Head Quarters, Faisalabad.

Responsibilities / Accomplishments:
My training was related to gas transmission and metering, gas pipeline designing, construction and inspection, corrosion control, gas compressor stations, SCADA system installation and monitoring, gas dehydration and odourization.

IWCF Well Control Certification (Supervisor Level): Attended and Passed from IPC, Abu Dhabi UAE from 23rd to 27th July 2005.

Final Year Project: "Pressure Transient Testing in Wells with Limited Entry to Flow".
The Project was divided into two sections. Section-1 contained the classical techniques used in pressure transient testing and the effect of skin on the pressure transient analysis. In Section-II, the classical mathematical theory was extended to include the case of limited entry wells. The effect of limited entry on the pressure buildup analysis was discussed in both steady state and pseudo-steady state wells. The equation to calculate the true skin in a limited entry well was presented as well. It also contained spherical flow regime model of the limited entry wells.
