Plant Description:

Taweela A complex comprises of 3 GE MS900Egas turbines, 4 MSF distillers, 3 Auxiliary boilers, and 3 heat recovery steam generators, further to the auxiliary equipments and plants (co2, chlorination, lime treatment, Distillate and Gas station). plant output, is 221 MW power and 27.6 MIG of distillated water.
Recently plant is being expanded by adding 5 new GE gas turbines Frame 9 EPG171, 14MED SIDEM desalination units, 3 new ABB steam turbines, upgrading the existing potable water system, replacing the 3 existing heat recovery steam generators with new high pressure HRSG's and upgrading the existing power units to DLN1 PG171.
Estimated design achievements of such however, are 1350 MW and 84 MIG

Area of responsibility consists of:
* Three Upgraded General electric gas turbines "MS9001E"-PG171-MK5 Speedtronic control
* 5 new GE ALSTOM turbine units combined with Heat recovery Steam Generators (Babcock- 346 t/h. 110bar 542c)
* Industrial 12 cylinders Black start Mirrles ALSTOM Diesel Generator, designed to provide emergency power to turbines –output power 3.1 MW
* 3 new ALSTOM steam turbines 202.7 MW
* Town water pumps surge air compressors (3 HAMWORTHY positive displacement air compressors – Two stages double acting pistons & 10 bars discharge pressure.
* Service & Instrument air Compressors (3 single stage oil free positive displacement HAMWORTHY compressors) – 8 bars discharge pressure.
* Fuel system (unloading pumps, fuel forwarding pumps, Piping and control valves, fuel skid and storage tanks}

Position involve:

* Managing and follow of construction contracts

The designer is Parsons Engineering Science Inc and the main contractor is Biwater Abu Dhabi Company.
