Sept. 1997 to Sept. 1998: Training Coordinator, World Wide Operations contracted to ARCO China Inc. Develop Training Manuals and Personal Development Plans for Chinese Nationals employed by ARCO China in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Working a 28 day on, 28 day off rotational schedule.
Oct. 1995 to Sept. 1997: Consultant to the Oil and Gas and Pulp and Paper.
Oct. 1993 to Sept. 1995: Process Safety Management Coordinator, ARCO Alaska Inc. Managed and coordinated the planning and implementation of the Operations and Mechanical Integrity PSM Programs. Brought ARCO’s Documentation and Training Programs from disarray to compliance with the State and Federal Process Safety Management regulations. Direct reports consisted of 16 ARCO technicians and 14 contract personnel.
July 1992 to Oct. 1993: Crude Oil Topping Unit Supervisor, ARCO Alaska Inc. Day to day management of the Prudhoe Bay Crude Oil Topping Unit. Introduced additional quality and production controls and began producing jet fuel for ARCO and third party use. This plant also makes heating oil and diesel for the Prudhoe Bay and Lisburne Fields as well as supplying contractors and third parties.
Nov. 1991 to July 1992: Loaned Executive Program, ARCO Alaska Inc. Collaborated with major Alaska Native Regional Corporations in establishing a statewide Native Job Bank. This was very instrumental in placing more Alaska Natives in the oil and gas industry workforce in Alaska.
Dec. 1987 to Nov. 1991: Training Supervisor, ARCO Alaska Inc. Developed and Managed ARCO’s Native Hire, Affirmative Action Programs at Prudhoe Bay. Controlled a budget in excess of $2MM per year. Established Statewide Public Relations effort to promote Native Hire in general and ARCO’s programs in particular. Coordinated all Cross Cultural training of ARCO’s Prudhoe Bay supervisors and technicians.
July 1987 to December 1987: Training Supervisor, ARCO International Oil & Gas Co. Los Angeles CA. Arranged needs assessments and training for Indonesian nationals to be trained in the United States. Point of contact for Indonesians in school as well as arriving and departing the United States. Coordinated efforts with headquarters staff regarding training, both in-house and external, for ARCO International personnel.
May 1986 to July 1987: Training Supervisor, ARCO CHINA INC. Zhanjiang, China. Personally conducted all negotiations with the Chinese involving training. Was able to resolve stalled negotiations over ARCO’s Training responsibilities to the Chinese. Negotiations had been ongoing for two years and was successful in resolving them in the first 45 days after arriving in China. Facilitated the planning and implementation of all training done by ARCO in China. Managed an English language school and a Masters degree program for 19 Chinese professionals sent to the United States. Provided Cross Cultural expertise to local Management.
Dec. 1984 to April 1986: Training Coordinator, ARCO ALASKA INC. Responsible for needs analysis, planning and implementation of training for over 60 Production Operators. Coordinated and supervised the training done by 24 Lead Operator/Trainers. Personally prepared and taught a variety of technical courses.
Sept. 1978 to Dec. 1984: Production Operator, ARCO ALASKA INC. Part of the start-up-team for Flow Station Three and associated Drill Sites. On numerous occasions, served as acting Production Supervisor, both in the Plant and for the Drill Sites. Also was an acting Wireline Supervisor for several months.
Aug. 1972 to Oct. 1974: Mechanic Foreman, Union Oil Co. offshore Cook Inlet in Alaska. Managed 5 employees and maintenance of 21 gas turbines powering generators, pumps, and compressors. Included maintaining positive displacement pumps, centrifugal pumps, valves, controllers, etc.
Sept. 1969 to Aug. 1972: Production Operator, Union Oil Company Grayling offshore platform in Cook Inlet of Alaska. On start-up-team for the waterflood and gas lift packages.
Oct. 1974 to May. 1986: General Contractor. Subdivided and developed properties. Constructed and marketed commercial and residential buildings.
June 1980 to April 1984: Owner/Operator of a $300,000 per year sand and gravel pit with up to 10 employees. Managing/Operating a primary jaw crusher, a secondary roll crusher, conveyers, shakers, feeders, front end loaders, crawlers, trucks and all the necessary equipment to process crushed stone products and sand products for cement and asphalt contractors.
May 1971 to June 1979: Kenai Peninsula Borough Planning Commission. Chairman from 1974 to 1979. This appointed position involved the planning and zoning for the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Presided over public hearings on controversial subjects.
Feb. 1970 to June 1977: Member of the Kenai Peninsula Borough Overall Economic Development Committee. The committee was charged with the economic planning and development coordination with the Federal, State and local governments and private business. Responsible for grant application for economic development for all governmental entities in the Kenai Peninsula Borough.
